Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

When college basketball was a stronger sport we made the second round with Billy CElluck I disagree

Is Chukwu better than Celuck? That team had Shumpert, Brown, and DeShaun before he was MeShaun. We really need Tucker and Ayala because we dont have the firepower that team did outside of Battle/TT. If we don't get Tucker or Ayala we are just going to kick the can for a year with 5th year guys and that's disappointing.

Oregon has now lost Dillon Brooks, Tyler Dorsey and Jordan Bell early to NBA. All signing with agents.

Rut-Roh. Oregon may go after Tucker a lot harder now.

One look at those facilities out there and we are in major trouble IMO if he does make that visit.

Oregon has nike-sponsored state of the art facilities -- no doubt.

But I think you are significantly underestimating the facilities that we have at SU. Our complex is second to none--and that includes Oregon.

Someone posted a pic of their locker room, and it was nice, I still don't get the big fuss about their arena, other than a very ugly and distracting court. The Dome and the Melo center should turn a lot of kids heads.

We have a top notch facility no doubt. The top facility is Kentucky and no one is close.

There athletes facility is a mansion masquerading as a housing complex, training facility and locker room.

Melo Center is top 5 though.

I'm not suggesting ours is as nice as Oregon's or has as many amenities. Tough to compete with Nike money.

But I reject the notion that we are "behind" in the arms race, at least in terms of basketball facilities. Ours are top 5, as you mention. Not intending this to be a shot at SoBe at all, but I don't think we're "in trouble" when anybody compares our facilities to any other team's.

Dome locker rooms need an upgrade badly

I'm not. Obviously they are great. But, on the flipside, I think others have caught up and are at our equal. Indiana, Villanova, Kentucky, Oregon for starters. Strictly speaking practice facilities. Not even going to go into arenas, locker rooms, housing, etc. None of us can accurately say. It would be interesting to poll recent past/present recruits, players, and coaches about this. Or broadcasters who visit these places routinely.

Yeah I can understand the worry in some areas for the program, facilities aren't one of them.

Oregon 12k capacity nicer and newer yes but...
Syracuse 35k capacity with great history since 1980.

Melo center is a state of the art 19 million dollar basketball facility. Not many colleges can claim something like this.

Oregon has pumped a lot of money into the football program but their basketball program is still light years behind Syracuse imo.

Nothing against Oregon because they are a good school, but some of you act like they are Duke and UK every time they talk to one of our targets. If that's the case why aren't they bringing everyone in each year.

Not at all acting like they are the blue bloods..just sick if this merry go round and just when we think we may be the best available options something else happens and playing time opens up at this school or that school etc etc..just read to get this dang thing over and have Tucker commit to CUSE! I still like our chances and I personally think we are the best option for him and I think he knows that so i guess only time will tell. Just ready for some positive news just like all of you are

Way to chime in with the periphery Captain Obvious. Yes, Syracuse historically as a basketball program blows Oregon's away. But, guess what? Many recruits don't care. Many recruits don't know about Coleman, Sherm, and even Melo is starting to fade away. They see all zone and struggling to score the basketball for the most part the past four years. Sanctions also. Like it or not this is a 'what have you done for me lately' world. Or else droves of McD dudes would be lining up to play at the Dome. I'd argue that attendance is irrelevant these days with all the TV exposure. McKale Center, Pauley, Assembly Hall, Phog Allen, and countless other venues seat WAY less. Because of this, Oregon is absolutely a valid and legit threat in a head to head recruiting battle.

Mr. Anthony's attorneys would like to inform you that the correct name is the "La La Center."

If Jordan Tucker wants a nice practice facility for BASKETBALL, Syracuse is the choice. If he wants it for Football go to Oregon. They practice in the same place they play.

If Tucker is considering GTech because it's close to home (at least in part), I don't see how Oregon can be a serious threat.

I mean I don't know how many times you can tell people Tech is the bigger threat for Tucker for them to get it and not continuously bring up another school.

It sounds like Tech is only in this because the family just moved to the area.

You specifically said Facilities. I responded by saying ours is better.
Not sure why you are being so defensive.
History aside, which I think is being a bit shallow thinking the kids just want cool new and flashy things and not care about a programs history.
But how can you discount the Melo Center? Its state of the art. We have gotten some pretty dang good recruits since we have built it.

The only reason our recent recruiting has taken a hit is because of the whole Boeheim announcing his retirement early crap. Nothing else.
