Shirt World On Marshall St...

From what I have heard, Jacobs has alledgely never has given a dime back to SUAD or SU. On the other hand, Manny and Lillian Slutzker have given back big time, as you may read here:

As soon as I read he’s from Philly, it all made sense…

I'm going to take an opinion that isn't politically correct in this thread, Rob.

As far as I am concerned, Dave gave back on the field. I know that he also worked with several of our kickers.

I realize some folks had bad experiences with him, and others simply like to pile on. I tend to judge people by my personal interactions with him and he was never anything but totally straight with me. I never got double charged or anything like that. On more than one occasion, he gave me a free item as I left. And no...it didn't appear on my bill.

I shop at Manny's too, but these days I tend to frequent the bookstore in the Schine Center more than M Street.

So, no problem on my end with Dave.

Difference is for you, no one messes with Viper. The rest of us aren't so lucky... :)

:)

Have you seen Viper these days, Bayside? Tom Skerritt is literally 91 years old.

Also, I now resemble Viper's elderly father. I mean the movie Viper, not the 91 year old Viper. At least not yet.

We are no longer twins LOL

And so soon after Dave got a new roof on the decrepit house that sits atop the store. Bummer.
They got to rip that thing down. Its front row viewing from the 100 million NVRC building. :)

I saw him at the parking lot of Wegmans a few years back. He loaded his car with groceries and then left his cart next to his car. He didn’t return it to the cart return space. I knew then and there I would never step foot in his store.

I literally haven’t posted on this board in several years, but when I saw that Shirt World was closing I came back specifically to reread the old horror stories about that dump. Interestingly, all the Facebook posts on the CNY Centeal article are from people who are sad to see the place go. Those folks must not have ever checked their receipts.

I don’t know how somebody stays in business for almost 50 years by screwing everyone over.I personally never had a problem with him.

Bort! Do you remember your final post on the football board in 2021?

“There isn’t a coach alive who can fix this program”

Fran Brown has entered the chat!!

Welcome back.

He screws over students first, who end up leaving town. Friend of mine worked for him. Not for long. He was beyond awful and despicable.

It's a college campus filled with kids from outside of Syracuse who don't know better. And when their families visit, they don't know any better either or Dave's history, so he always has a fresh batch of innocent and naive people to take advantage of.

It's the locals that know him, know his shady business practices, and know who he really is that have avoided him at all costs the past 10+ years.

This is some serious commitment to holding this view. I mean this with all due respect, but kudos to you, good sir.

Legit, waiting in the tall grass for years and then pouncing.

I don't think I ever bought anything from Shirt World during my time there or when visiting (if I remember correctly, I actually think I got most stuff from the campus store), but I can definitely say that when you are dealing with 1) college kids and 2) parents of college kids that are there for short stints when buying things just like a shirt or what not, they may not be scrutinizing every receipt.

Again, I can't speak from first hand experience, but you have to remember (and this is no shade at anyone to be clear) there are a lot of kids up there that can drop money like it's not a huge deal to buy a shirt or what not and not worry about the price tag, so it's not worth their time to worry.

But there are a number of businesses that assume a leveraged hand because they are dealing with young kids (whether it be the companies leasing apartments or how bars used to deal with underage kids, etc).

I CAN speak from 1st hand experience. Things on sales racks are rung up at different prices than advertised. Much of the stuff has no price on it. He rings up prices on a calculator, not a cash register that prints out SKUs and price per item. He's a scumbag.
