take the massacres against fsu unc and vt and maybe have him healthier for the bad teams at the end

it has been obvious to many people that shrader's not going to win much against good teams, what was the point.

They should have run the ball the first possession or 2 and get settled down. Let the defense work on Clemson's average offense, maybe they get a turnover. Stupid game plan as usual.

Only thing I would change is bring him back for VT. They are friggin' terrible, that loss is a complete embarrassment.
They are 54th in SRS one spot behind nebraska

So in other words don't even try to win those games. That's a great idea...gotta love the competitive spirit here.

everyone said he was hurt, was he not?

look where we are.

Nebraska lost to Colorado and Michigan State. They are a good comparison to Virginia Tech as both are basically garbage - not sure that comparison helped you make your case though.

Agreed. As soon as he took that hit, just bench him and let him try to get to whatever he can for the back end of the season if that was even possible.

I like Shrader, but he's on a such a knife's edge when it comes to being really productive. Any sort of injury, at all, and he's off a cliff.

Especially with our other position groups.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I totally agree with you.

Also, and I guess that it doesn't necessarily matter at this point to an extent, but CDRW isn't even 100% after last game and with our OL (all due respect to them), there is a shot that he may get banged up and we're into break-in-case-of-emergency QB before the end of year.

before clemson, everyone knew this was all going to come down to coming out the other side with him healthy

i don't care that they started him against clemson but once he got killed, that should've been it. (He was also terrible that game and we could all see it)

I know my gift in life is to turn syracuse fans into idiots so that they can disagree with me

but sitting injured guys against teams you can't beat so you can get them healthy for teams you can beat is good.
Millhouse for head coach!

Sounds like it probably didn't matter if we trust Macpherson's word. He was damaged goods all year.

I guess we should have done that in 2017 too.

We’ve had 5 complete embarrassments in a row.

Maybe in an ideal situation we’d lose to Florida State 24-7 like Pitt as opposed to 41-3. If you see a massive difference in that, fine. Personally I don’t - and that Pitt score is close to our best case scenario.

I think it’s more likely your expectations are way way way way beyond what Syracuse is going to be sustainably capable of (at least any time in the foreseeable future) - so you need to be prepared to be regularly embarrassed by the performance when we play top 15 teams.

None of it matters anymore.

It will all be over soon.

Shrader will probably look back one day and think I wish I didn't play against Clemson. Or figured out that sliding isn't terrible.

you're just talking about this particular football season, right?

It's funny that being bowl eligible is this big dividing line. a game worse than the ones we play all year in a slightly less bad climate where none of the good players even want to play. but what else do we have? "are we bowl eligible, can we become bowl eligible, what can we do while we have a chance at being bowl eligible, we should schedule to get bowl eligible, how many times have we been bowl eligible, bowl eligible this bowl eligible that"

we can't win the conference, we don't really have rivalries, it's all feels kinda pointless. i just want it to be entertaining and how often is it?

He got hurt against VT. He was playing in that game regardless.

Benching him if he’s not injured (we can argue what the situation actually was) would’ve been a total embarrassment and a fireable offense.

Yeah, this year. No more Dino. No more Shrader’s legs being the best part of our offense. We get fooled into thinking it’s great. Until it isn’t.

This next hire will be a statement of intent from the university.

Either we intend to compete or we intend to continue to be Tomato Can U.

Lots of big talk about NIL being sorted and new facilities getting us up to par with Lally, which is good.

However, If they cheap-out on the coaching hire and monies for assistants, we'll have our answer... A lot of fans would be disappointed and I think a chunk of might wash their hands clean of the program. Bit of a crossroads methinks, but we'll see.

As you mentioned, if it's rarely ever entertaining and fun anymore, what is the point?
