and assistance from A.W.?IF $ rumor is true, and factoring in the Fulton kid must have cost more to keep, G-mac is doing well fundraising with Saints alums.

I've said it before and I understand all the reasons why it would be a highly attended game, but because of Red's precarious position it would be fatal to play Siena and lose to them. So, do any hoops insiders know if we approached Siena/GMac for a game this year? I only ask because I don't see any "pay" games on Siena's schedule other than Indiana. We could fund their athletic department for an entire year. And it would probably be a very highly-attended game (which would pay for itself if we offered them a bit more than the usual pay game).
Of course, I could also see Gerry not wanting this game...yet.
I agree with cusefan88 above in Red probably not wanting to play yet. But also Gerry may want to wait a year or two when he has a better team. Agree, should draw a big crowd. Maybe they meet in the NCAAT?So, do any hoops insiders know if we approached Siena/GMac for a game this year? I only ask because I don't see any "pay" games on Siena's schedule other than Indiana. It's not worth it (from basketball side).
I think I may have mentioned this before, but I know that Le Moyne approached them about a home and home and I believe offered to play the Le Moyne home game downtown at the War Memorial, since it's about double the capacity of Le Moyne's gym.
My understanding is that if Gerry is going to come back to Syracuse, the first time needs to be against SU at the Dome (which is understandable).
Actually, I think the first time against LeMoyne makes perfect sense in a lot of ways.My understanding is that if Gerry is going to come back to Syracuse, the first time needs to be against SU at the Dome (which is understandable).
Yes. That's for next year. Pretty incredible that the kid is their highest recruit in Siena history, especially since they have had some NBA guys.Huge get for Gerry
Number 14 rated point guard recruit, 4 star.
I think Gerry is a better recruiter than many gave him credit for.
Here is the Times Union article on last night's event. Focuses more on recruiting than on this year's squad.I went to the Siena basketball sneak preview tonight. Except for a couple players who had classes, all the other players were there, along with all the assistant coaches and of course, GMac. Plus, all the same for the Siena Women's team.
Everyone is very excited for the season, as they should be. My biggest takeaway from GMac's speech was how last summer, he had to deal with finding a place to live, moving, getting the kids in school and then getting to know the players and the things first year coaches have to deal with it. This year has a lot of continuity. Four of the top five scorers are back and six altogether. And, even though there are still a lot of newcomers, I think three transfers and five freshman, he said they all want to graduate from Siena. That could be coach speak, but it definitely seems like a lot of solid players who will definitely play hard and want to win a MAAC championship.
