Siena Basketball: GMAC / Blackwell / AO

My understanding is that if Gerry is going to come back to Syracuse, the first time needs to be against SU at the Dome (which is understandable).
Actually, I think the first time against LeMoyne makes perfect sense in a lot of ways.

Since JB didn't like playing against former assistants if at all possible, I could see Red feeling the same. He would also be facing a Siena bench full of former SU guys as assistants. I realize that for Gerry, it would be an enormous big deal, but for Red maybe less so.

I think a Siena-Lemoyne matchup would be perfect. The only downside for LeMoyne is that the "home crowd" would likely be cheering heavily for GMac et al.

I went to the Siena basketball sneak preview tonight. Except for a couple players who had classes, all the other players were there, along with all the assistant coaches and of course, GMac. Plus, all the same for the Siena Women's team.

Everyone is very excited for the season, as they should be. My biggest takeaway from GMac's speech was how last summer, he had to deal with finding a place to live, moving, getting the kids in school and then getting to know the players and the things first year coaches have to deal with it. This year has a lot of continuity. Four of the top five scorers are back and six altogether. And, even though there are still a lot of newcomers, I think three transfers and five freshman, he said they all want to graduate from Siena. That could be coach speak, but it definitely seems like a lot of solid players who will definitely play hard and want to win a MAAC championship.

Siena Saints season preview.

Gerry sounds like he's going to have a pretty good team this year. A couple D2 kids moving up to take spots in his front court, but they have size. And that Iowa kid to play center could be pretty good in the MAAC.

Here is the Times Union article on last night's event. Focuses more on recruiting than on this year's squad.

What's the story with Dusharme? I see he is still listed on the roster, didn't show up in the box score. From the bits and pieces, I can gather, sounds like Doty is a very talented player.

Reid Ducharme sat out Monday's game with a shoulder injury. It appears he may be day to day.

Gavin Doty had 21 points on 9 for 12 shooting.

GMac was not happy in the post game interview with way his team played on offense. I believe he said they were 1 for 14 from 3. Brown had a number of players missing due to injuries
