Yes this is where I think the miss happened. Either they should have done it or they should have been asked about our top 10 guys specifically.

I kinda feel the opposite way. How many “signing day” press conferences have we watched that had nothing to do with signing day.

We all wanted to hear from the assistants on their respective areas. I like that Fran sent out his assistants to speak on this.

I wish we asked at least these 5 questions…

1) did you look at one specific position in terms of need to address?
2) anyone else in the HS ranks still have a chance to bring on or are you done and looking at transfer portal for any new additions.
3) Demetrius Samuel being the highest ranked recruit and a big time flip, do you promise the kid anything?
4) Thoughts on committed kids taking visits elsewhere?
5) How do you attack kids that are committed to other schools. Do you reach out and gauge interest with their hs coach or wait to see if they are open to other schools.

I also hated how they never got into the QBs..:the are good kids who embody the character they want…but like um can we ask if they can sling it!

The portal opens in 5 days. Fran is where he needs to be, getting the next wave in here. One of the benefits of having a super recruiter head coach is that with the portal now, he gets two swings at the pinata instead of just one.

Exactly. Fran is our recruiting and in addition he obviously feels strongly about giving credit to people working for him as well as giving them some media experience. Also, these schools have bigger staffs these days, ok to delegate once in a while. Program just won its biggest game in 6-7 years, glad the head coach is out trying to capitalize on that as opposed to answering a bunch of dumb boiler plate questions with boiler plate answers on kids that just signed today.

*Most* people on here complained Dino was guarded and that they didn't get to know the people in the program.

Today is the biggest day of the year for the recruiting guys. Their national championship. They did the majority of the work and the coaches close. I don't see the issue here. Fran will likely be available again on Monday for the bowl. It's OK to have other people talk sometimes. You don't like it, and that's your opinion, but I don't know that it's a "big miss."

Also the landscape has changed. The portal guys are the 'names' we'll be talking about most on here for the next 6 months.

With all due respect, nobody cares about what the GM of the football program has to say about the recruits.

It only matters what the head coach says. Big miss by the SUAD. And I would guess with nearly 100% certainty, big miss by HCFB.

I'll add -- it looks absolutely ridiculous having 12 people up at two tables for a press conference.

Fran standing in front of a microphone doesn't make the team better. Being on the road recruiting does. I like that Fran wants to lift up the guys that did all the work behind the scenes.

My colleague kid's went to Guyer with Arnold. He decided to transfer the day after he got benched. He has also decided on a school. An $EC school...but he won't tell me which team. He did say that it's not Alabama, aTm, or Georgia.
