Signing Day Press Conference | 4:25 PM

Most of what is already posted on this site is what most of us want anyway. Coaches are constrained a bit in what they will say because they are coaches to everyone in their position group or on one side of the ball. For a moment like this you want a hype man. A Flavor Flav or similar

No one is similar to Flavor Flav

With all due respect, nobody cares about what the GM of the football program has to say about the recruits.

It only matters what the head coach says. Big miss by the SUAD. And I would guess with nearly 100% certainty, big miss by HCFB.

I'll add -- it looks absolutely ridiculous having 12 people up at two tables for a press conference.
Yes, I will no longer buy season tickets after this serious faux pas by the department. I’ve lost all respect for Fran Brown for this critical mistake. I’m not sure he will survive this.

BTW I listened to the press conference and it was the best post recruiting day conference we have ever had here

Stop. I was giving an opinion. Virtually every other big time program had a head coach press conference. That is my point. They also want to hear the opinion of the head coach. Maybe I am in the minority. That’s fine.

My colleague kid's went to Guyer with Arnold. He decided to transfer the day after he got benched. He has also decided on a school. An $EC school...but he won't tell me which team. He did say that it's not Alabama, aTm, or Georgia.
Probably Vandy

How long ago was it they had an event where people actually went to like Manley and the coaches talked and showed film? I remember one that got cancelled with a snow event had to be 10+ years ago now. But they used to show film and have the position coach talk and all of that. Far different now.

We're really grasping at straws now to make negative posts on the football board. Appreciate the hustle and effort on this one though.

That's a broad application of the word "we're"

I think it's just one guy yelling at a cloud.

We just won 9 regular season games and signed a top 40 class who all stuck around when other schools started inquiring. I don't need to hear Fran go through all 33 of them.

two takes
1) When the GM said we will make the 4 star
2) When the other dude said basically don't trust the rankings, we trust our film review more.

That is the real key to recruiting is getting on the kids who can make your team better no matter what the stars say.

it was a hot take for sure, one has to ask the question, if your coach was the best recruiter in the country where does one think his time would be best spent right now in the age of the transfer portal?

answering Brent axe’s questions or in some potential transfers living room ? I’ll hang up and listen

For those seeking HCFB’s comments on the class, I found an upstart podcast. It’s protected, so I will have to summarize, rather than post a link.
When asked about specific recruits, he said, about each one in one way or another:
He’s all about DART. He is already doing it, in the class room. In the community. In his faith. In the weight room and on the field.
He is a guy we specifically wanted. He helps us get bigger, stronger, faster.
If he follows DART when he gets to Syracuse, he’ll have a chance to do really good things.
He’s a leader on and off the field. We want young men who are leaders.
His mother/father/parents did a great job raising him.
Sorry it’s not verbatim for each player.

Yup. The next few days are some of THE most important times leading up to the portal officially opening on Monday. It would have been way out of character for Fran Brown to be anywhere but working through the portal targets. Winners get washed and recruiters never sleep. It is who he is.

There will be plenty of time after the portal class is locked up for Fran to comment.

Fran has empowered his staff from the moment he arrived as a means to get them exposure and future opportunities for career advancement. That's an attractive quality as a leader. To me this bodes well to recruit and hire future/up & coming recruiting rising stars. Being the nation's top recruiter doesn't have to stop at the on-field talent level...

The portal doesn’t open for 5 days. He is literally committing a recruiting violation if he is in the living room of a transfer before December 9.

And with all due respect, I couldn't care less what he has to say. The head football coach is the face of the program.

Do other top programs have their GM & a bunch of staffers on a stage?

Those programs sell themselves FFS. That's why they are doing it. I mean really those are your examples? Dude we just went 9/3, took out Miami at #6 and our HC and other alpha recruiters are out hitting it and working connections.

I haven't seen this anywhere yet. SU signing day press conference:

Who were all those coaches? I didn't recognize too many of them. Do we have a staff of recruiting coaches?
