SMU Post Game

Red in the post game when asked about JJs poor shooting, said it might have been because of his head to head contact. JJ must've been banging his head the whole season.

Thought the team played hard, but the coaching lost this one. Our offense in the final 10 minutes of games completely changes for the worst.

Coaches have to tell JJ to stop shooting 3’s. Each attempt is equivalent to a turnover at this point.

Multiple games now where going to a lineup of Carlos, Cuffe, Bell, McLeod, and Davis/Petar evaporates any lead we might have.

In today’s episode of Red’s Random Rotations, Davis has a groin issue yet plays 19 minutes of the 2nd half? Taylor starts out red hot and gets pulled.
Red is clueless on substitutions. It's so bad I can't make any sense out of them. He's God awful at feeling the flow of a game and his players. It's either pre determined or just random. Either way it is horrible and has cost us a minimum of 4 or more games. I personally think that Red is slow to process. not a quick decision maker. He freezes similar to Dino. He almost never makes a move that you would expect him to make. He just doesn't have it. Good recruiter. Good people skills. Doesn't have the basketball IQ to be a good coach. Over the years JB never consulted with his assistant coaches on any in game decisions. Not once. Jims assistant coaches were never hired for their X and O skills and it shows.

Boeheim despite his flaws rarely lost double digit lead games. He knew how to coach on the sideline.
Red yells at his coaches and looks like an assistant filling in.

He’s got to go. He’s not a coach.

Wildhack is going to point to this game after the season when he tells us Red is back. Kids played hard and matched a good team on the road, yadda yadda yadda.
Two more games and two more seasons left. Nearly halfway home.

Can someone tell me what Autry does well? What is the reason we should believe in him?

Yet another blown lead and zero adjustments. Any serious program would fire Red. But we aren't a serious program anymore
He has dirt on someone

Body language = fail
Coaching second half of games (all season) = fail
Subbing = fail
Closing out = fail
Portal = fail

At least no one breaking urinals this year. He sure got the locker room!

2 more seasons of this can't happen.

It's bad enough they are gonna run back one more.

I was waiting for that excuse. That said I thought it would have came from the fans who refuse to admit he stinks. If you're healthy enough to play that doesn’t hold water.

Did anyone here think at the end of the game, that we were going to win? This team is a loser. We have losing players and a losing coach.
I said it with 8 minutes left. You could see they blowing it in slo mo

There were at least 4 guys who were more go to than JJ tonight. How about get Bell a shot at some point in the last 8 minutes.
Don’t disagree. We were good on offense when the ball was moving and everyone getting touches. It opens up the floor and allows Carlos to find people (8 assists). When we get stagnant we just go iso with JJ and Davis pounding the floor trying to get in the lane. Too many touches last night for Davis when scoring only four points. You aren’t winning close games when a team scores at least one point in 15 of their final 16 possessions. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

The fadeaway layup that was blocked at the end when he should have driven in for contact and a foul was very... Euro.
He uses the European push shot around the rim. When has he ever gone up strong with two hands? He might try dunking once in a while.

Real possibility we have a 20 loss season…20 losses in a single season. Remember the days like 8 years ago to 50 years ago where it would take like 3-4 season to combine for 20 losses LMAO

I have mentioned this a couple of times, but it really isn't being talked about enough. Syracuse has one 20+ loss season in history, 1961-62. The second most losses in a season is 19. Autry and this team, at the very least, will tie that mark unless they beat Virginia, win the ACC Tournament, and then win the National Championship. It is also currently tied for a top 10 spot for the worst win% in program history. The only teams worse...

1902-03
1909-10
1910-11
1922-23
1944-45
1952-53
1960-61
1961-62
1962-63
1968-69

Most losses in 63 years. Worst win percentage in 56 years. Yeah, we should probably keep the coach around another year. At the very least, this is the worst Syracuse basketball season in over 50 years. A season which we brought in a McDonald's All American and the coaching staff had numerous players available to them via the transfer portal. It's simply laughable. #FireRed

I was surprised to see John Wildhack sitting directly behind the bench. I’m guessing he’s trying to get a feel for how Red communicates with players and what his thoughts are during the game. I’m not convinced a coaching change is not made. It doesn’t seem likely, but if the pressure is mounting you never know. Twenty losses would be hard to explain to donors.
