No biggie, you stated what your lineup would be and you had 6 guys in it.It was meant to be 6 deep….with spot subs when necessary from Taylor, Petra, McCloud and the Hofstra kid.
You want him to go all JB and throw the kid under the busAutry doubling down on Carlos during the post game press conference makes it seems like there is no plan to replace him in the lineup. Very concerning.
We could be 5-0We could easily be 0-5.
Not at all. I appreciate Autry having the kid’s back. I hope the kid balls out for the rest of the season and validates the coaching staff’s belief in him. It’s just that other than the first exhibition game against a poor D2 team, we have not seen anything that would justify that belief. He’s clearly not playing confidently…maybe bringing him off the bench will release some of the pressure he’s putting on himself. You want him to go all JB and throw the kid under the bus
Thank you Jake, for this post and all your contributions on this board.I think we’re looking at another year without a bid. Disappointing. Very.
On Red: He did a good job getting 20 wins last year. That team was a nightmare. I felt good about him going into this year. However I have some concerns now. The PG evaluation has been catastrophic. The hype around Carlos was tremendous. He’s a 10-15 minute player. He was billed as a “tough kid” warrior type. He looks confused and petrified.
The move should have been made before Brooklyn IMHO. These games were too important. Some player rotations have been head scratchers. Hs going to get a third year, but if that team doesn’t make the dance, my guess is we start a new search.
PG position. You have to roll with JJ at this point. Spell him with Carlos. Choppa would be my 3rd guard and I like Taylor for spurts because he’s soo good defensively.
SF: I’d still start Bell, but he’s in a short leash. He just doesn’t get engaged if he’s not shooting well. So if he’s not, he’s gotta come out.
I’d roll with Davis Freeman Eddie. I don’t get the love for Petar. He’s smart, but he’s slow and flat footed. He’s a nice piece down the road, but him playing over Davis last night really bothered me. He’s like Jimmy Jr out there.
I’d like to see Naheem every night to give Eddie a blow and play a bit of Zone. The press looks like ass- don’t bother.
I’d yank Freeman after every bad shot he takes early in the clock. He must be made to work inside out. Some JB style tough love would do this kid wonders.
this has been terribly disappointing so far.
Believe me my friend, my point guard skills have diminished over the past many, many decades. You realize if you just took the kid under your wing for five minutes none of this would be happening …
He's been getting chase down/weakside blocks his entire career here. They are fun to watch when they happen. The flashy plays. I will say it again... one of the lowest IQ players I've seen is Chris Bell. And the worst rebounding forward in SU history. AND the ability to get extremely hot from deep on catch and shoot.Agree.
Chris has also shown more hustle than he is being given credit for by many fans. Yet again, he was able to get back on D and block a shot, the third such instance in two days.
On the season, he has as many blocks as Eddie, Freeman, and Davis combined. Or Eddie, Freeman, and McLeod combined. At 6'7", he is way shorter than the latter three as well.
I appreciate the optimism. From your lips to God's ears. The only issue that you haven't taken into account is that despite the fact that November will be coming to a close in less than a week, our beloved Orange still do not have one single quality win. Or even if not true "quality", they don't have any wins of any substance whatsoever.I think we can make the tourney.
I don't think Freeman is a bruiser. He shies away from contact. It wasn't that long ago that going into tipoff Orange fans expected to win every game.
Now some folks are just happy to play the other team "close."
It's a sad comment on how far the program has fallen.
It seems this team has to go inside and/or play inside-out.
So how about a lineup with 3 bruisers playing upfront: Lampkin, Davis and Freeman?
Move Bell to the 2 and JJ to point.
Problematic?
Sure.
But so is everything else.
This 100%Yeah, this is another good reason to figure a lineup where Naheem can get in there and give some good minutes w/ the right pieces around him with his rim protecting abilities
As we could easily be 4-1 with a handful more FT makes or 5-0 with a little better execution. We could easily be 0-5.
