That's just ludicrous.
That's just ludicrous.
That's just ludicrous.
ESPN is cutting back spending his next contract will not be as rich as this current one.Gruden makes nearly that now, with little to no stress as an announcer, I thought. Why go back to coaching, he's got one of the sweetest gigs in America.
Lol, Gruden get $6.5 mil a year to talk about stuff with no stress.
He only takes a lesser buyout if his lawyer tells him he won’t get all the buyout he would get.
Florida is bluffing right now seeing if McElwain will cave. It will depend on his lawyer if he takes less than he should.
If they could fire for cause they wouldn’t even offer a lesser buyout.Wouldn't it actual depend if UF has some basis to fire him for cause? Doesn't actual depend on the facts and the terms of his contract?
If they could fire for cause they wouldn’t even offer a lesser buyout.
The report is they offering him less.

Agree. Not sure why they feel he would be the definitive answer at the college level. He might be, but I wouldn't put that much money on it.

Gruden is the highest paid person at ESPN.
That's true -- but I think he is signed for the foreseeable future with ESPN. Plus he goes hand-in-hand with their most important asset (the NFL and MNF). ESPN's struggles were well known when he turned down other jobs this offseason, if his agent had any business acumen, this cost cutting must have been foreseen.
It just seems strange. Why would he turn down a chance to coach a young, talented LA Rams, or Andrew Luck in his prime, only to take over one of the most dysfunctional college football teams out there less than a year later? If he's doing that, you'd have to imagine he has terrible buyer's remorse.
It's just a change that I couldn't see anyone who's seemingly loving life making, but I guess only Chucky knows for sure.
This is one thing in our favor, IMO. Dino is at the right age, where he builds this up, and can ride this as his last job before retirement. He appreciates the school's legacy, and he recognizes the Dome as a unique advantage for his style of play. We are also going to be far more patient with him than any of the traditional elite powers will be.
He recently said he did. Didn't say when. He lives in Florida.I don't think Gruden has any interest in coaching ever again.
If my team needed a new coach after this year, I'd hire McElwain in a second.
I suppose its possible, but the dude's been mentioned for just about every NFL coaching vacancy for the last 10 years and hasn't found one to bring him back.He recently said he did. Didn't say when. He lives in Florida.
This firing is all about UF's offense. Period. End of story. They were winning their fair share of games (2 straight East Division titles), but winning at home 9-7 over Vandy or 20-14 over FAU in OT was not quieting the over-zealous alumni base. What a joke... absolutely ridiculous that he's asked to pack up and go... 4-8 / 7-5 two years prior to arrival... 9-4 / 10-4 first two years...
struggle bus a touch this year, losing to LSU by 1 and A&M by 2... Then Georgia, Georgia's going to smoke just about everyone they'll play save Alabama. Their defense is stupid good.
Be careful what you wish for UF, because this type of intolerance is exactly what takes the luster off of destination type jobs.
Guaranteed they've already put themselves in a position where they'll either miss on some of their top choices or will have to over-pay. Good coaches aren't dumb.
Pretty telling... Mullen ahoy
