Former SU assistant AD John Cunningham is taking over as the AD at Cincinnati. John followed Mark Coyle from Syracuse to Minnesota. Good guy. Congrats to him.
OL coach Randy Clements has taken a job as the OL coach at Ole Miss. Clements coached the OL at Baylor when Dino Babers was the WR there. He has followed Kendal Briles around to a number of schools since Art was forced out of Baylor. That partnership was finally broken when Randy took the job with Mississippi.
It looks like Kendal Briles is a candidate for the open OC job at Arkansas. If he doesn’t get that, I am not sure what he will do.
If you are rooting for Kendal to surface in Syracuse, the Clements hire probably makes it easier for Dino to hire Kendal. He could make Kendall a co-OC with Mike Lynch, and minimize the impact on the coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball (Kendall usually coaches the QBs; maybe Kurt could move to coaching RBs, with Mike coaching the OL again?).
My guess is that Dino will not make any changes on the offensive side of the ball. But if he is ever going to bring anyone from the outside in to be an OC, it is probably going to be Kendall, who I know Dino is friends with and respects greatly.
Either him or Sean Lewis, if Kent State turns sour and he gets fired there. Doesn’t look like that is going to happen anytime soon.
