SU All Time Best Team

Two points:

Why bother naming 12 players since Jim Boeheim won't play more than 7 or 8?

It surprises me that no one names Leo Rautins. He and Billy Owens are the most skilled all-around players we've ever had. No one else close during Boeheim's tenure.
Stats don't reveal everything. Leo was an excellent ball handler and unbelievable passer. And you also gotta give him an assist in Andy's production.

Louis Orr?
Orr, Warrick and Wallace were hard to leave off (and remember I did my team before anyone else did... so I couldn't look at anyone else's selections for ideas).
I could have put any of them on the team rather than Hopkins... but I wanted a cheerleader on the bench --and a feisty, disruptive player coming off the bench. For those who never saw Mike play, he was the original "Mr. Floor-burn." (And, for that matter, the original "Mr. Bloody Face").

Yeah I didn't mean to pick on you cuz I read further down and hardly anybody else had him on their team either. That surprises me only cuz he was a brutally efficient player. Three year starter and 6th man his freshman year. A-A his senior year. Averaged 56% from the field and 77% from the FT line. And played on balanced teams with several other options. Also averaged nearly 8 boards a game his last three years.

1: Douglas, Washington, Edelin
2: Rautins, Jardine, Bing
3: Owens, Wesley Johnson, Anthony
4: Coleman, Christmas, Warrick
5: Seikaly, Bouie

Kind of a slow team, but plenty of shooters, a lot of bigs who can shoot 60% and handle and pass a bit, and all excellent finishers.

EDIT: I somehow left Dave Bing off the team. I'm trading Billy for him.

AND: Carmelo.

Carmelo?

Starters: Sherm, Erich Santifer, Carmelo, DC, and Seikaly.

The bench is a lot more difficult to finish off.

Guards: Pearl, GMac, Stevie Thompson.
Forwards: Wallace, Owens, Leo Rautins.
Centers: Christmas, Etan Thomas.

It was tough to choose two guards from GMac-Thompson-MCW-Dion-Devendorf-A_Rautins, and
a single forward from L_Rautins-Wes-Moten. Had to include Stevie; I don't think anyone on this
roster plays defense, unless you count shotblocking.

I also used the "had to be seen" rule, meaning I just missed Louie & Bouie. But not Marty Headd!

Fab Melo? Really?

Fab Melo? Really?
Fab melo was heck of defender in the zone his sophomore year. With Wallace and Camelo on the wing I needed two good defensive centers to put with them. That's why I went with Etan and Fab.

*** Fab Melo. I understand it seems like you started watching around the 2000 season (as did I, by the way) but even I know Fab Melo doesn't deserve to be even close to this list.

Where's Coleman?
Owens?
Seikaly?

etc. etc. etc.

I was born in 85 and started watching seriously around 94..I did what would be my 12 players not necessary the best 12, hence Preston shumpert and devendorf and rautins on my list. I still have my John Wallace jersey I got in 96, unfortunately it doesn't fit lol. I thought fab's sophmore year was really good.
