All,

Quick time out and congratulations...this issue just became the fourth most-talked about
off-the-field issue in board history surpassing "Barry Baker eligibility/scholarship."

Chad Elliott eligibility...watch out.

I hope the BOT is listening... Every recruit, and potential recruit, googles their name.. And this site shows up. Try it. Add Syracuse, and it'll show up sooner. It doesn't take them much to see this... And if other schools are talking about the cuse med staff... (as posted)

The PR issue could easily affect the on the field product. I believe, Babers could put 10,000 more butts in the seats, in a couple years. Add a bowl payday. (dunno what it is, but if UMass is getting $1.3 Mil for a regular season game...) He doesn't need any unnecessary obstacles. (Bad PR, or as posted - if correct, the team is avoiding the Med staff) There is a bottom line issue here, that could easily trump liability concerns. Don't get me wrong, any kid that has a real issue needs the DQ.. But it seems to have gone a bit past that.

Properly addressing it should go a long way for both the health of the players, the coaching staff, the PR problems... When those are right, the $$$ follow.

Here is the issue as I see it. You can't terminate him for doing exactly what you've hired him to do. He was hired to be the be all end all decision maker, and thats what he is. I know Cubs mentioned 6 on 1 earlier. Unfortunately the 1 is the only vote that matters.
Now this is no way means I agree with him holding the position, his handling of the matter, or his final decision with Steven. Quite the opposite, really. But those expecting a firing are probably holding their breath for quite a while longer.

I agree. I don't see him getting fired for doing exactly what the brass at SU wants him to do. My issue isn't with the Doc but the administration that is pushing this.

This is not about DQ only, it's about the whole Med program and routine processes. Hopefully I can clarify.

ALL of YOU (except parents) are not READING between the lines. Tucker is misdiagnosing and subsequently mistreating injuries because he is UNQUALIFIED to head up a P5 sports med program. He is NOT utilizing specialists to diagnose and treat specific injuries and shooting from the hip in diagnosis and treatment remedies. He is not keeping up with modern sports medicine practices. He is simply NOT qualified!

Some potential recruits have also used this to turn us down because of our amateur at best Med program (as Coyle called it). Competitive coaching programs have found this out and are actively using Tucker against us in recruiting battles. Tucker has become a huge LIABILITY. If he had the BEST interests of SU sports at heart - he should RESIGN immediately himself.

FB staff is beyond furious with the Med program and process here - they prefer S&C coaches to treat minor injuries before including Med staff and only use them as a last resort - SCARY!
Just to clarify - what's the process. - Kid goes down with an injury, the coaches want the S&C to have first look? I get that Tucker doesn't seem like the best choice but having S&C guys evaluate sounds like the NFL pre-CTE spotlight. NOt being wise just curious what the protocol and pecking order is moving up the medical eval ladder.

He's on the road to Kalamazoo. And, he mumbles and speaks waaay too fast. Drives me bat-crap crazy.
Meant no insult to him. Thought it had to do with the podcast quality.

Nope. Pretty much all him =D

Always have to say "what? what'd you say?" when on the phone with him.

This is something I usually only PM one poster here but I think it's important so against my better judgement, I'll put this here... I don't want to dive to far into what we talked about as 75% of our conversation was to remain confidential. So I just want to share with you a 30,000 foot view of the discussion.

Had dinner the other night with someone VERY close to this situation. This is first and info. What I can tell you is if you have not sent an email to the Chancellor, the BOT and the AD expressing your extreme concern over the lack of a DQ medical process on par with OTHER P5 schools, please do so... This is something that CANNOT take a back seat once camp starts, it must continue to be at the forefront... The administration does hear you and recognizes the situation... This is not falling on deaf ears, unfortunately, change takes time... But please continue to express your concern and ASK FOR ANSWERS as to WHY our process is not like other P5 schools.

While our coaches are happy in how we have supported them and the program through hiring, $$$ for recruiting and other resources our peers have (private jet service for one), they are REALLY frustrated with our lack of a medical DQ process. (I know that's nothing new)

Most importantly, I can tell you that John and Kent understand how much football "drives the bus." John absolutely LOVES Dino and knows he is the right guy (I think we all do). John has said to me "My #1 focus is fixing football. We absolutely have to. And we will." With that, he has said to me that he "will do absolutely everything in his power to keep Dino so that Dino retires as a Syracuse Orangeman" This was said to me in a very stern and I would say "promising" way. They get it.

One last tidbit regarding the Dome... Don't be surprised to see the 2019 lacrosse home schedule front loaded with home games... They want to get as much of the construction done from April to mid September as they can... There's a reason our first 2 games for football are away and September 14th is TBA...

I know I didn't share anything earth shattering but wanted to get my conversation on here and show a bit into John and Kent's thought process regarding football.

The process is simple. I know of no player or parent to which I have personally spoken who trusts Tucker, and so, whenever possible, they avoid him. Anyone with connections to the program can confirm this.

Thanks for sharing that mostly reassuring info. This is a topic for a different thread, but I don't get why they wouldn't just move lacrosse games to Coyne or somewhere else for one season. It would give a full month and a half extra time for construction.

The only LAX home games in April are Cornell and Binghamton. February and March games would be unaffected.

We can always swap dates with Cornell and play down in Ithaca two straight years if we have to, and we can move Bingo to the Soccer Stadium.

This should be merged (buried) in the other thread.

Time to move on.

My opinion anyway.

It's not going away...

It's not going away...

nor should it...

It's funny, when we weren't investing in the program (no IPF, ty wight room, horrible facilities) everyone wanted a change. Everyone voiced how the University wasn't doing enough to support the coaches/program. Everyone wanted the University to INVEST in the program... Since then they have... It took time but change happened...

Why should this be any different... There is clearly an issue and the issue being we are not on par with our peers in our DQ/medical process... Dino talks all the time about leveling the playing field. IMO, this is not a "level playing field." This is something the admin needs to act on ASAP. I think they will...

bcubs9497 Steven is a great guy. Wish him nothing but the best. Actually went to a concert with him and a bunch of other players last year at CMAC. Glad you are vocalizing this. This is what it takes to inflict change.

Mods... if you don't think this belongs in this thread, do what you want with it...

I know in these posts I've read about Kyle Knapp and even AJ long as examples of players who continued their football careers elsewhere but googling I can't find any football stats for Kyle Knapp at WMU and his Linked In Account has him presently working. He was on the roster as a senior in 2016 but had no stats. Just wondering, did he ever actually play after leaving SU? I thought I read that AJ Long transferred to Wagner, a D1 FCS team but also never actually played there and is now at a D2 university in PA so his story isn't complete. Just curious, has a SU medically DQ'ed player actually played football after leaving SU? Would Steven be the first?

2016 stats as a WMU senior in grad school.

Thanks for sharing, whobut03 I have not doubts this information is 100% accurate.

Hopefully, those that have had reservations about questioning the process will now add their voices by expressing concern to the BOT, Chancellor, and AD.

Awesome post!

What we need is a medical staff that supports the FB and other sports programs to treat to effectively and efficiently get injured players back to full strength. The med staff should stop being a "gotcha" group and start supporting, not roadblocking athletes.

Serious injuries need specialist diagnosis and treatment - not the shite they get now. It's also attitudinal that's why Kent & John need to apply a root canal on the whole med program and get rid of the rot starting with Tucker.

It's so unprofessional it's simply appalling - SU & SUAD should accept nothing less than professional P5 level medical treatment of its athletes. I'm simply sick to my stomach based upon what I've heard that goes on up there...nothing more I can contribute on my part but agree that more emails to BOT & Chancellor & AD helps.
