Syracuse Football fined $25k by the ACC

It totally looked like Nissi and another DL faked injuries as Clemson moved into the red zone on one play. It also looked like we faked injuries in the Tennessee game. Not sure if they've been coached to do that but let’s get off our soap box because we've been doing it.
That’s not the point here. The point is every other team in the nation does it every week, and have been for far longer than I have been born. And yet we’re the ones to get fined for it. Syracuse is the black sheep of the ACC, we will never be accepted there. It’s comprised of rich elitist rednecks and they clearly don’t like us and never will. When are Tennessee going to be fined? Because we all know that clearly isn’t going to happen. Like someone said in this thread earlier, we got punished for beating Clemson @ Clemson. See you in hell Klubdick

I know it’s not ACC but I stopped counting at FIFTEEN the number of injuries Tennessee had the clock stopped for. Shockingly the injuries stopped once the game was well in hand for them. Where was the ACC’s outrage on our behalf?

And I normally hate “whataboutism” but what about Clemson going headhunting for our QB this weekend? Is that ethical?

This conference is a joke. I hope we smoke every last contender for a playoff team this conference has. Burn it to the ground Fran.

Cmon... we had two DBs fall down at the same time against Tennessee. We need to be a bit more subtle.
The point is that it’s common practice everywhere, but we beat Clemson at Clemson and there loser QB cries and we get hit. Let’s see who else gets fined …..I can make a real educated guess ! #^*}% the ACC.

I would not pay.
This is a direct attack on Fran as the head coach. They are calling Fran a cheater.
If we do not fight this why would Fran want to stay with us. No one wants to work for an employer that does not fight for them.
If the university does not fight for Fran he will not be here long term.
Fran is probably sitting in his office with his coaches laughing at this. He has the "W". He is not letting this bother him one little bit. If you fight it, it becomes a big story. Just pay it and move on to the next game. Practice your faking a bit better this week. That is all folks.

Whether other teams are doing it too, etc. shouldn't be the focus. How about ownership vs. whataboutism? Unfortunately, this is where we are and have been in our culture, etc. for some time now. Kinda reminds me of getting a speeding ticket because one was speeding and in clear violation of the law, etc. and argues to the officer that I was just doing the same speed as everyone else.

We 100% are doing that. I have no idea what it looked like in Clemson, but it was clear against Tennessee for sure.

We hated when teams did that to us early in Dino’s tenure. So I’m not shocked we are doing it now. Because it clearly does make a difference.

But as others said, if that had a hand in us winning last weekend, 25k was more than generated in terms of what that win means to our university in terms of future money earned

I have 1,000,000 to worry about more than this. Fran probably does too.

Where are all the great Lawyers SU touts ? The defensive delay of game penalty got me..in my 67 years of watching football Iv'e only seen that penalty called one other time and that was in the NFL. (That also mystified me) Kind of like the illegal socks penalty Tenn game

Any chance we ever leave the ACC with Fran as head coach?
I may be in the minority but i dont think football success is what's limiting syracuse's ability to leave for the big 10, i think its a deeper concern around territorialism, academics, and donator base. If success mattered rutgers wouldnt be there

Oh, I disagree with that. If everyone else is doing something and you are the only one to get fined for it, you would be wrong not to think something is wrong with that picture. It isn't just whataboutism. Throw in that we are who we are in this conference, a northern team in a southern conference. Let me put it this way, if we did the same thing against Pitt or B.C., there would have been no fine. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Yes, we stalled. No doubt in my mind. But let's see if any other schools other than Pitt and B.C. get called for that. I hope so.

I think you could be right IF Fran was adamant about it. I'm sure there were discussions about this and people are aligned. It would probably do more harm than good to fight it.
I disagree. SU has always taken this approach with bad results while other schools fight and win. It's time to stop rolling over for entities that could give two poos for us.

i didn't see it so much vs. Clemson. but the tennessee dual fall down play probably put us on the radar.
both syracuse players not even in on the tackle look to the sideline and fake injuries. i don't know which coach signals that in but clearly it was directed to one of them in the line of sight and they both reacted.
if you're gonna fake at least take some contact. again not saying it wasn't both ways but ours was replayed over and over and so blatant it probably deserved punishment. 25k seems cheap. i'd like to see injured players who can't get off the field and therefore halt play held out for the entire series.

It's already a big story because Clemson made it one right after the game.
All SU has to do is put out a statement that "SU is committed to uoholding high standards of conduct within the athletic department. We instruct our players to go down anytime they think they might be injured out of an abundance of caution over their health and well-being, rather than attempting to "gut it out" and risk more serious injury. If the ACC has any evidence of us faking injuries, we would appreciate them sharing so we can make corrections so that it doesn't happen in the future. "

Then, you reach out to the ACC offices asking for a private discussion and settle it quietly.

the big 10 wont want us until we get AAU status back

Well, we are the only one to be fined yet...it's a new rule implemented just this year. Perhaps, we are first to be fined because of how just blatantly (in your face type) obvious we have done it. So, let's see how that plays out before you can claim what you're are claiming. IMO, need a heck of a lot more data there (again as a new rule and still in the first month of the season).

The whole northern team in a southern conference complaint, etc. is one that I, personally, have never given much credence to. I guess, simply because if the "southern" conference never gave us a the lifeline to begin with...well, we'd be UConn. However, still with only one hoops NC vs. their 5.

I hope I am wrong and that we see other schools in the conference hit with this fine. As for the southern school, I could get in to it more with scheduling and other issues but it isn't worth our time to do that. This is a southern conference. I will tell you that I was told today that the SEC put in this fine last year (50k) and so far, no school has been fined.
