As an LSU Fan, I first wanted to point out that I was impressed by the Syracuse players who showed no sign of quit, and really came to play ball! It was simply impressive. The fan support was incredible and I applaud the entire program for the performance displayed this past Saturday. In the end, the outcome was much closer than I expected, but I will also say that LSU was never in danger of losing The game. Penalties killed LSU on Saturday, with I believe one, or maybe two, TD's called back for penalties. I also wanted to say how impressed I was with you QB, who I believe was the 5th string QB? Please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Either way, he showed unbelievable poise, and although he made some bad mistakes, his overall performance was definitely a positive for Syracuse going forward. Your defense played well too. Unfortunately, they had to run into (and got ran over) by the best back in the college game (and many pro teams as well) by a guy named Leonard Fournette. That guy is a beast. And with a back like Fournette, our inexperienced QB will only get better. Overall, I just wanted to point out that yall should be proud of your teams performance. LSU was obviously the much netter team and that didn't seem to matter to your players, which is also a sign a great coaching. And out of curiosity, I'd love to know your honest thoughts on Fournette, and also how you think LSU will fair the rest of the season. With missing the 1st game of the season, I predict LSU will lose 3 regular season games and finish with and 8-3 record. I just believe that even with all the talent they have, coaching will cause them to lose games they shouldn't. What say you my Syracuse friends?

Fournette is best RB I've seen in years...feel blessed he is playing for your guys.

We are not that much worse than LSU...your SEC bias is showing there. I watched the LOS and it was closer than you think. I think LSU will lose 2-3 games...I didn't see too many gamechangers on your team other than #7.

Careful Mark! Those are the kind of comments that got me flamed on their board after the game! lol

Fournette was the best back i've seen play in the Dome.

I can see LSU making the Final 4, although I think UGA beats them in the SEC Championship game.

I could live with a Georgia LSU SEC championship. Those are the two programs and coaches that I actually respect and somewhat cheer for in that conference.

Fournette is a transcendent talent. The OL is also a load to handle and the pounding the SU front 7 took eventually led to a couple of those long TD runs where the seas just parted. From where I sit the LSU coaching tendencies looks to be something of an equalizer. Even though the SU front 7 was outmanned, we were able to sell out against the run and keep #7 in check for the first 3/4 of the game. I'm sure some of our success is attributed to our D's scheme and game plan, but if you've seen the tapes the simplest thing to do is just pass, pass, and pass some more because the secondary is highly suspect. That's where a coaching staff needs to be willing to shake things up a bit, especially when facing teams that are comparable in talent.

Yes, the game was never seemingly in doubt for LSU. BUT let's say SU converts that chippie FG before halftime. Now you're looking at 34-27 attempting that onsides kick. When you're only down 1 or 2 scores crazy things can happen.

Our QB is a walk-on and was running the scouwt team a week ago. no shite.

What if Fournette drops that ball on the broken play (he almost did) and SU scored on a scoop and score? 14 point swing. Game was closer than many might have thought.

LSU fans were great fans and respectful as well. Hope LF wins the Heisman Trophy.

Ohio State struggled mightily against 2 non P5 schools. Ole Miss struggled with Vandy. TCU needed a miracle to beat Texas Tech.

While I agree we could potentially lose two games, we could also potentially win them all as well.

True, I see some things that LSU needs to work on, but I haven't seen a dominant team so far this year in CFB. Lots of parity.
Best/Most Dominant performance I've seen this year was actually Utah @Oregon.

Mark, , I appreciate your comments. I truly do. However, I would disagree with you on some minor points you made. First, I don't believe I made any comments that would indicate that "My SEC bias is showing there". In fact , I believe most of my comments were purely praise for a well played football game by Syracuse. Second, the game was close, and I only mentioned that if not for a few penalties, LSU would have had an additional 2 TD's on the scoreboard. Lastly, I will point out that you didn't see much positive playmaking from other LSU players simply because Fournette is a game changer all by himself. We actually have probably a top 15 group of receivers that you don't see making many plays due to the fact that out QB is still being held back by the coaching staff. Malachi Depree will play in the NFL in 2 years from now along with T. White and many others. We have 2 fresh,an backs that are seeing time right now too, that will play big parts in future wins. To orange-in-va, you don't have to worry about me and backlash comments like you see on tigerdroppimgs. I'm a true college football fan, and even if my Tigers suck, I'll call it like it is without making any negative and insulting comments. LSU has a great team, but they are a year away from competing in the final four imo. Also Mark, not to be a homer of sorts, but Syracuse is still way behind LSU in football at this point in time. With that being said, it was one of the main reasons I wanted to post on your board in the first place. Your team played a great game and someone from the tiger nation needed to let you know. I was proud of the effort your team gave despite the odds of you actually winning the game. I simply give Syracuse an A+ for their effort, pride, coaching and dignity displayed during the game. It was a job well done. I'm sorry you viewed my comments in such a negative manner. But hey, it's football, and if you love it as much as I do, then I expect nothing less! Lastly, and already mentioned, I agree with you that LSU will lose 2-3 games this year. But not because you think Fournette is the only player we have worth mentioning. I believe our coaching will play a huge part in that. Also, and just for the sake of mentioning it, I think we have a pretty solid defense too! Our,limes aren't as deep as years passed, but it's hard to keep up with it when so many underclass,en declare the draft as juniors. Again, thanks for your com, eats.

and Utah only beat Utah State by 10. Its going to be a wild ride this year...can't wait

LSU was the better team but not by a lot. One of your TD's was a punt return and we missed that darn chip shot FG. It took 30 minutes to get a 5th string walk on QB acclimated to the game. Oh well. While LSU did have a lot of penalties, by my take, all but 1 were deserved. So either LSU is over rated or SU is better than we think. It's probably a mix of the two. Fournette is a pleasure to watch and appears to be an even better kid. I have a lot of respect for him. As for the LSU fans, I thought you were great and very nice. I hope you guys run the table but I think you stub your toe along the way at least once.

I'm curious, what did LSU fans think of the dome and how did that environment compare to what you see at other venues?

If you put Dungey in the game and it transpired the way it did, in all likelihood we win that game. Dungey would have capitalized on the great field position in the first half when Mahoney was working through his jitters. I bet we go into halftime up by at least 7 if Dungey plays.

But...we can play the what if game all day. :D

That is of course our point. The game could have gone different ways with different bounces. I know LSU would beat us many times out of ten, but on a given day we could beat them with Sunshine.

From now on they will be referred to as "that team whose name shall not be mentioned".

Dont we have to play them in a couple years? I really wish Coyle would buy out the game and schedule someone else. They don't deserve to play our boys again.

I think it is in the dome - wonder what kind of reception they will get?

Fournette is one of the best I've seen on the hill and that O-Line of yours is top notch. Better fix that passing game though to get to the top 4 and those throws over the top of your D. Good luck and win the SEC!

And unfortunately Saturday was that day :(. What could have been...

I'm confused...are you saying that LSU doesn't deserve to play Syracuse again?? If so, why would you believe that? If I've misinterpreted your comment, you have my sincere apologies upfront.

No, no. Central Michigan cheap shotted our QB. Who was coming on and has people comparing him to lots of greats after 2-3 games.

We're not fond of them currently.

Fournette is, without question, an elite talent and is more than deserving of all the Heisman hype. Having him gives you a shot to beat to anyone. IMO, you are going to need more vertical and play action threats as the rest of the SEC looks to make you more one dimensional. Even then, Fournette should get at least 25-30 touches every game. But going forward, I think your D might be the issue that causes you to lose a couple of games. Granted, this is based on very small sample size. After watching your Auburn game, I thought you would easily shut us out given the players we were missing on O. You have talent, size and speed on D, especially your LBs, but SU was able to come up with an effective game plan, even using a walk-on 3rd string QB. Not sure if that is coaching, motivation, scheme, or talent related.

Best of luck the rest of the way! I hope Fournette wins the Heisman.
