So during the worst stretch in SU history, and the best in RU history, we're more or less even or RU slightly ahead. Got it. Also, SU leads in BE titles 1-0.

If Rutgers leads in wins and bowls then were not even.

And did you just use the "everyone gets a trophy" year to try to refute my point?

Damn it I just need to enjoy the uconn win.

Stop trolling. You are officially obsessed if you are going to spend that much time writing a post about a team no longer in our conference in a couple of months. As for the post itself? Utter Nonsense. Your obsession with them is wacky.

He's not obsessed with them. He's obsessed with rehabilitating Coach P. The post was nothing more than an excuse to remind us how SU has failed to invest in the program. The "real" reason behind the great depression of SU football.

Great post, great post, agree 100%. you can learn a lot by watching the game from field level or on the sidelines, Rutgers is definitely bigger stronger faster than we are right now. They have invested in their program and out recruited us. I wish people could get out and tour facilities a bit more and see what we are up against

i think Ru has better athletes at several positions.. no way that they dominated the LOS in the last two games. the better athletes at LB makes the blitz the thing that saves them more than anything on D. they have athletic WR who are below avg at many of the things that make a WR good, except that they are big and fast, they catch poorly, dont block, and run bad routes. They lose the biggest part of the D next year when Greene leaves, he is a play maker

Rutgers had more talent. Far faster on defense, especially.

That's fair, but they have also out-recruited us and might be able to re-load that D.

It hurts to see them at 7-0, heading to a good bowl, when we were in a position to knock them down a peg. Can't look back and no point in whining about statistics. The remedy is for SU to win its games and land our own athletic WRs and LBs.

Gents, just a few points:

1) Rutgers is not on our future schedule. They are NOT a rival. They may have been on the way to becoming a rival, but we will never know. Beyond sharing a conference, there really was no rival status.

2) Nobody outside of the Big East really knows anything about Rutgers. Some people think that Rutgers is a Syracuse rival because a talking head mentioned it once or they read something online, but once they look at the records, they fully understand there is no rivalry.

3) Rutgers has no signature wins. I give them credit for their winning ways over the last decade (the worst in SU football history), but Rutgers has failed to impress anyone outside the conference. Beating an Arkansas team that is in disarray does not impress anyone, kudos for winning the game they should have won, but still not impressive to the average CFB fan, especially those outside the Big East.

4) Everyone knows about Syracuse and their rich football history. Nobody outside the northeast takes Syracuse lightly. Everyone respects the Dome as the loud house, most would prefer not to play there.

5) Our history with Rutgers is now in the past. See #1.

I have lived within the bounds of every major football conference and have met many fans of many teams. Never have I met someone who knew what Rutgers really was that was impressed with them. Most simply did not know about Rutgers, the remainder thought very low of them. The few Rutgers alumni I have met didn't talk about Rutgers football.

While I don't consider Rutgers "a rival", I do hope we manage to play them OOC, and on a consistent basis.

Cheers,
Neil

I don't even know who you are anymore...

What is your preference for "consistent basis"? Once every 10 years? Home and Dome, every 10 years? I ask because I would much prefer games with Louisville, Cincy, the Florida Schools (though not necessary, anymore). Even Houston and SMU are more interesting to me than Rutgers (granted, this is partially due to my address, but also for recruiting Texas kids).

I would suggest that all future posts on Rutgers, be put on some other board. This is my 1st and last post on them, we're going to the ACC, and they aren't so I don't care about them.
I think the board you refer to is Rutgers scout site, if only we were so lucky for it to stop

Oh Lord

Please if the mods are listening can you delete threads about these guys we aren't playing them anymore. Why don't people start West Virginia or Penn State threads as well those teams were legit rivals we aren't playing anymore either.

We've had more than a couple Penn State threads...

look...nobody here is ripping Cincinnati for the way they are winning. Most people here respects Cincinnati's style of play. What shady did at rutgirls was bringing a style of ghetto street ball from his days at miami were he coaches the players to give forearms to the jaws of opposing Q.B'S to knock them out.(think steffy out of maryland).Personal fouls are welcomed along those sidelines.

Hell just look at Green's play last week were he threw a punch after another rutgirls player bumps into Desir and he bumps into Green where he then throws a punch.Green is playing on something other than emotion at times,he's full of rage.

This defense of Rutgers is, at this point, pointless. They are disappearing from our schedule likely to never return. The Conference they are in has been tried before and has failed. And the prognosis for the future is not good.

My problems with the Rutgers program have little to do with their talent.

Its a football program that was created by a couple of people in the hope that the people of NJ would become interested in it. So far it has soaked the students and the taxpayers of NJ for $100's of millions. It's borderline criminal to require students and taxpayers who don't care about Rutgers football to subsidize it to the tune of $20+ million a year. Talk about taxation without representation.

Prior to the recent improvement, RU cashed Big East checks with little investment. They were parasites on a conference that had others busting their asses to compete while they fielded a IAA team.

Their basketball and lacrosse programs have been generally non-competitive.

Rutgers belongs with Delaware and URI ... and I think that's where they will end up. That's a level of football consistent with the baseline interest there has historically been in the State. Good riddance to bad garbage.

You forget that OPA also believes that the NEW Big East is going to get some huge TV deal and be a force and won't die. He thinks the NEW Big East with all of these great "college" TV markets like Memphis, Boise, Houston, San Diego is a good thing. The fact he is defending Rutgers and singing the praises of Rutgers as some "power" isn't surprising.

The BEST Bowl Rutgers has gone to the last 20+ years is the "Pinstripe Bowl"...nuff said!

Rutgers did their own "Hard Knocks" this offseason and aired it on the SNY channel as a 2 hour special. Total behind the scenes look. I saw their facilities. Slightly better than SU's but not by much in all honesty.

And yet we beat rutgirls in 2009 and 2010 and kicked their asses only to HAND them the last 2 victories. Just like Hackett said. rutgirls is not more talented no matter how many times you say it.

Is it possible he's talking about Rutgers because he doesn't want to talk about Connecticut?

Why are we still talking about Rutgers. Only thing I care about is beating USF

Whenever there's yet another "Rutgers-obsessed" thread, I feel a little like Michael Corleone;"Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in".
Again, I've never quite understood the Rutgers-based obsesssion by some people on this board- call me old skool, but they've never been a rival in my eyes.
At this point, I'm convinced we'll be in the thick of ACC competition and someone, somehow, in some bizarre way, will still feel it necessary to relate it to Rutgers...and their schedule...or facilities...or coaches...etc etc
It's simply....mind-boggling.
