I just went back and read the first five pages of this thread because I forgot what this thread was all about. It's entertaining to go back and see how far we've gone. It's also interesting to see how early people became impatient - by the second and third pages there were rumblings of "what is he waiting on?" If only people knew back then what we are facing now.

In an effort to refresh my memory with his talent and what he would add to the team... if we land Mr. Thompson, what are you most excited about? It seems that for such a big guy his shot and handle are good and could be very effective down low. I also love the notion of him (the following year) suiting up with Chukwu to form twin towers. Of course, much needed depth is a huge plus as well including a guy who could learn the system this year along with improving his game so that he could be a force come his second year at SU.

That is why some of us have gone nuts.

I'm most excited about this kid being a low post scoring threat with a refined post game, who can finish with either hand. He might not be a rim rocking jumping jack, but his below the rim game is effective nonetheless. We haven't had too many people as capable offensively as this kid projects to be as a low post scorer.

I agree. He has really nice low post moves. He has really great foot work. (at least as shown in the highlight videos)

Come on people get back on track here.
Sorry. My personal take on Thompson is, he is a good athlete, not great, and a bit stiff, not a fluid athlete. I see him more as insurance this year, unlikely to contribute unless we have some injuries or issues. That being said, he is very important because he has the tools to develop into a contributor sooner (sophomore?) rather than later with his low post game and even stretching to a mid range jumper. Defensively, he might be able to play forward, but it might take him some time on the wing. Also, he is another big body to practice.

I hope everyone here noted the temporary shutdown of this thread.

Next time, it won't be so temporary. Tangents, attacks on his mother, girlie pics, etc. will be deleted and cause the thread to be locked. Permanently.
