Has the team picked/announced team captains for this season yet?

My vote would be for Scoop. Admittedly, I don't have the best view being on the outside, but he is a 5th year senior who seems to be an incredibly hard worker, appears to be tough as nails and seems to be the most vocal of all the guys on the team. He also seems to be getting things done in the classroom as he graduated in the Spring.

While KJo may be the best player on this year's team or the guy that we have to lean on the most if we are going to be successful, I am not convinced that he is Captain material.

Thoughts?

Why aren't you convinced Kris is captain material, but you are convinced that Scoop is? Personally, I think both should be captains, but I also think Kris works just as hard as Scoop does, and his teammates really seem to like and respect him.

Hasn't been announced but I have no doubt it will be KJo and Scoop. 2 senior starters who are pretty darn good. Why not?

Just my general sense of the two players personalities. I feel like Scoop is more of a leader than KJo is, both in terms of his willingness to be vocal when necessary and in terms of his willingness to grab the bull by the horns and try to step up on the court when others don't. Admittedly I am not in the best position to make that judgment as all my impressions are filtered through the media.

Captains have not been announced yet, but I am certain that Scoop and Kris will be co-captains. When you have two senior starters with that much experience in the program, it seems to be a no-brainer. It would make little sense to pick one over the other.

Anyone who has played college sports knows how meaningless the "team captain" title is. Leaders do not need titles.

People were worried about the leadership AO and Rautins would provide. That worked out pretty well. I think our leadership for this season is solid.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing your 2011-12 Syracuse Basketball team captain:

I agree that it is meaningless in terms of conferring status or leadership...a leader is a leader. He will lead whether he is nominally titled captain or not and you can't make someone a leader by simply calling them captain. However, I think it gives us as fans another piece of information about the team and who we should be looking at to provide leadership also offers us a glimpse into who the staff feels is capable of being that leader as I expect that they would not allow a Meshaun that status (don't know whether the staff picks captains or they have the team vote the captains).

Scoop is like the Jeff Francoeur of college basketball: Omnipresent in the media, a little overrated, polarizing among fans (casual followers seem to love him while closer followers seem to be more critical), streaky performance when it comes to production.
