For review, if you guys want, there is a site that rates guys up to 99 based on overall for their position. I had it but can't access that email from work, if I still have it. Will fish tonight, but if I can't find it, I will google later.

Okay now that we are done I want to do a draft self evaluation.

I made my #1 priority Line Backer. They are just so important on that game. I wanted either LT or Derrick Thomas. Nobody else made my list. Drafting 7th (I think) there was no way I was getting LT, but I did get Derrick Thomas, so I am able to check off that goal.

I needed an elite QB with 19 or better speed. There were only 4 in my opinion. QB Eagles (the best choice who was gone before I picked), Joe Montana and Warren Moon (about equal), John Elway (a step down). Nobody else was acceptable for the way I play. I got Joe Montana, and I'd call that a success.

I think there are 4 running backs that stand out. Jackson, Sanders, Anderson, and Thomas I would have gladly taken any of them, Bo is the fastest but has by far the least catching and I like to throw to my backs so in my opinion all 4 of them were pretty much equal. I got none of them. I am hoping I got the next best in Marion Butts. but that is one box I cant check off.

The biggest mistake I made in the draft was taking Joey Browner. Not that he's not a good safety, he is. But at the time I thought we needed both a safety and a corner. Knowing now that we only needed one DB, I would have saved that pick pretty much to the end of the draft. There are tons of great ones out there to be had.

Whoever got Richard Johnson got probably the best value of the draft as well as a guy who has both a first name and a last name that are synonyms for penis (is that a quadruple entandre?)

I had a very clear plan in the beginning of the draft, but as the draft went on I had to guess at stats more. This was the fun part to me.

My last 3 picks though I had planned from the beginning. Williams, Green, and Reasons. I got all three which makes me happy. Probably not the best value picks, but guys I liked using and wanted.

Overall I am happy but we will see what the stats reveal. Where can we go to look up Tecmo player attributes?

Oh, one last thought on edit. My vote for best non-drafted player is Ray Childress LB Houston Oilers. I dont remember his exact stats (56 speed maybe?) but I remember him being one of the better linebackers in the game. Surprised he did not get snagged by somebody.

I had Carl "ton" Banks LB/NYG as the last LB on my draft board. Not sure his attribtues but he hits a ton and causes fumbles.

Oh yea, surprised he didn't go. All those Giants LB's deserved being taken.

I think because they were all money and aside from LT they were interchangeable. Bottom line, if you were the NYG and using a LB there was only one choice. Actually if you were the NYG you were using an LB as that was the only choice.

Oh and check this out.. page two of trying to google tecmo super bowl player rankings to find a rankings/ratings site to help us with determining a winner..you will find a link to this thread hahaha

That's awesome!

The more I have played on the emulator, the more I am reminded that speed really is the key on both sides of the ball. Being able to break tackles is important but when you can zig-zag around your guy because your faster- its over. With that said I have a hard time seeing a major gap between our teams. So much speed on both sides - probably means a lot of low scoring affairs.

edit - the system I ordered and was so excited about got there and it was a dud.. so waiting on a refund and a new one I ordered:(

Speed is key for me. Bulldozing players on offense is a blast BUT the more you do it the more you fumble.

Got it! Maybe next time, I should skip the foreplay and just search for tecmo?
So the link has a ton of data. What I suggest you do, is save the link (under File usually in browsers) as a text file to your pc and it will be easier to search for players. That said, try to check out the pro bowl for studs by finding on the page NFC Pro Bowl and similar for AFC.
The last column shows what they think are overall numbers for position.
I am very happy with my draft. Looks to be a sick offense and I have value sleepers at most defensive positions aside from Fulcher, Mr. Studly, Townsend and company.

The silence is chilling, it's like a library in here!
I know you guys are looking these numbers over right now. :)
I just wish they did overalls for everyone, they don't do it team specific. But great data, save it locally for a rainy day.

Great stuff. I will have to go back and check out guys on pro bowl squads that are 95+.

Link blocked at work... but have a tee

Liking my team a bit more... Pro Bowlers in Barry, Byner, Rison and Jackson on offense with Woodson on D. Trying to sort through it but liking what I have found so far.

well I will let the rest of you read but I have my arguing points now for having the best team... :p.. great find on this link Tee and the level of detail this has is unreal..

This site lists player ratings. You can search them by team or by the sites rankings.

http://tecmogeek.com/

I will likely use some sort of similar format in weighting which attributes are most important to me when I have some time to spend on it.

~Apparently Jerry Rice is the best WR and best RB in the game at least according to this site.

Ha, this one's a little strange. I do think that receivers max speed helps, but that they don't have the rushing power for the most part, kind of silly. Besides, I know we're all purists here and we want runners where they belong. Running? Yes, that will do.
:)

great points- childress i was going to pick but i have my run stopper in millard so went with joyner who was fast and good in coverage for a lb.. shocked he wasnt picked

Probably just a means to get tight ends on the list otherwise the top TE would be waaaaaay down their rankings. Rushing power is what breaks tackles though, no?

I think it's hitting power that breaks tackles. Rushing speed is another one, I think it's synonymous with acceleration when you first get your hands on the ball.
