Gotta say it looks good for them.
Gotta say it looks good for them.
Would Cincinnati be a better fit than Rutgers for the B1G? It sure is a better fit geographically. I don't know the parameters of what they'd be looking for. I don't know how Cincinnati fits academically. They certainly seem a better fit athletically.
Gotta say it looks good for them.
I'm really glad we didn't would have been a travesty. Dino would have done the right thing and declined not putting his players in danger. Why can’t be beat Rutgers in APR…could have been us.

Danger of putting your players on the field after being off a month and trying to rush a couple practices together.Danger of what? Covid? Aren't they all vaxxed? Probably would have the booster by then. Or are you saying we should just go back to living in a bubble.
Do you really think the players will be mentally and physically ready after not playing or practicing for a month? Especially the players who graduated and won’t play at the next level. I’m willing to bet they gained some holiday weight already.Danger of what? Covid? Aren't they all vaxxed? Probably would have the booster by then. I hear you.People in NJ cared more about the redistricting news than the Rutgers news yesterday.
When the initial news broke that they declined, a number of local articles said "yeah, good call. Covid/time/logistics and cost were too much". They all know they are the stand ins waiting to get pummeled. It's embarrassing.
Glad SU had no part in this.
They were the only choice three teams that played in bowls said no and wake was going to pull out if they didn't have an opponent by tomorrow. The Gator Bowl basically took their cousin to the prom.I hear you.
But to say in recruiting thy got into a decent bowl they didn’t qualify for and were the #1 choice is pretty good ammo.
I hope Wake wins this by 100.
I think we post way too much about this program. Two-hour self ban for contributing.
Come within 50 of any decent big ten team.
Are the players even on campus?Do you really think the players will be mentally and physically ready after not playing or practicing for a month? Especially the players who graduated and won’t play at the next level. I’m willing to bet they gained some holiday weight already.
There’s a reason they ease into spring and fall practice without pads and they’re not even going to get a full set of practices in before the bowl. This is a total money grab for Schiano.
Most of them. The last team workout was 6 days ago and finals ended yesterdayAre the players even on campus?

A lot of colleges have gone virtual so who even know how many were actually on campus. Most of them. The last team workout was 6 days ago and finals ended yesterday
No. No it does not.Gotta say it looks good for them.
I agree, but the way they are portraying it in social media, the typical lazy idiot will think that Rutgers and Schiano earned something.No. No it does not.
Horrible and desperate look for them. Putting players health in jeopardy for the almighty dollar is not a good thing.
And for all the ROSUF (Rutgers-obsessed-SU-fans), here’s reason #2738 why we should never measure ourselves against that program. JMHO
My BIL is a Rutgers alum, & he’s saying everyone he’s spoken to hates this move. Likely a blowout loss and if God forbid a player gets seriously hurt, that program will have some serious ‘splainin to do.I agree, but the way they are portraying it in social media, the typical lazy idiot will think that Rutgers and Schiano earned something.
Those people understand what is going on, like we do. Some casual fan or anyone that doesn’t know the details will see some of the Schiano praise and falsely believe he is deserving. My BIL is a Rutgers alum, & he’s saying everyone he’s spoken to hates this move. Fair enough. They can spin it any way they want. Sometimes it’s about more than that. They are risking their players health in a low upside move that’s likely to backfire. That coach and program are beyond shame at this point, but integrity still stands for something. Those people understand what is going on, like we do. My only problem with this is Rutgers is Apollo. I like Apollo (but Clubber Lang is my favorite Rocky opponent). This is like an exhibition to me. Apollo against Drago.
Haha, I hear you. I liked Apollo too.My only problem with this is Rutgers is Apollo. I like Apollo (but Clubber Lang is my favorite Rocky opponent).
You hit on the point. “They can spin it any way they want”. Can’t do that if you’re not in it. This isn’t money (or not primarily). This is to show program progress to donors, to the Chancellor, to the students, to the recruits. This is for them to say “We are a program on the rise” and “we wouldn’t have been here without our dedication to academics” which plays well with recruit’s families and the teachers who complain about money being funneled to the AD.Fair enough. I’m just glad, and i would hope in similar circumstances, we’d say no regardless. JMHO
