The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

I don’t think some people really get this. I’ve been saying for years and years now, we have generations of fans we’ve lost or a generation or two there was never a shot with. SU is barely relevant beyond this board. The fact we can even get 20k-30k at the dome sometimes is incredible. I have zero friends or family left that ask, talk, or even mention anything SU related. It’s beyond even caring that we keep having losing seasons, nobody I know even cares about that. Complete apathy.
I was born in ‘71 and my childhood was the awful era in the 70s and early 80s. I remember the sack Mac pack and empty domes. I also remember Nebraska, Joe Morris, Tim Green and other positives in an otherwise dismal time. When 85 happened we saw potential. 86 tempered that feeling although they finished well to lay the groundwork for 87. When 87 happened the entire community all of a sudden came out of the woodwork and became big time Orange fans and those of a certain age remain to this day. The same thing would happen if we get good again. Winning cures all. Just gotta get there which is easier said than done.

So the last 25 years have been pretty even between the programs.

One school would say it's been the worst period.

The other would say it's been the best period.
Did you see the numbers between 1970 and 1986? Edit as BomberOrange said, those were lean years.

We really have about a ten to fifteen year period of chest pounding, 1987-2001.

Before that you'd have to go back to 1950 - 1969.

I wasn't around then, and my parents who were kids / teens who were, are now 70 years old.

Look, all I am looking for at this point is back to back winning seasons.

I'd love to see Dino rip off three or four winning seasons in a row, even if they are only 7-6 or 8-5 type years. I'd jump on that yesterday if I knew it would happen strating this coming year.

When was our last back to back winning season? 12-13. And before that? 03-04 were back to back 6-6. 00-01 was the end of fifteen straight winning seasons.

So if things go as they have, we're due for back to back winning seasons the next couple years (every ten years or so).

I'm looking for a Frank Beamer-type turn around for Dino. He re-did his coaching staff and became a legend.

The 247 Alijah Clark thread is at 275 comments. It was at 165 the last I checked. Rutgers fans literally losing sleep after losing Clark. HA HA
I couldn’t resist looking and as described it is must read material for SU football fans. It’s nice not to be on the business end of this situation for once.

Looks like you need a subscription.

If you think I'm giving up my helicopter, you are crazy.

Of course- give them a discount on official visit transportation. Just requires a 3 hour stop at the Dome first.

How much of an uproar is there in the great state of New Jersey about this massive boondoggle Rutgers is getting? Putting it on the students - Ok that is their choice - but surely taxpayers or elected officials will scream bloody murder about this

that is a major blow to RU recruiting in Jersey. lateral move. ha ha ha
Looks like continued dumpster fires for RU football for at least the next decade. What a shame.

On the positive side, their basketball team should be pretty good until they lose Pikell once the season ends.

Enjoy it while it lasts RU fans.
