The Annual Bubble Discussion Thread - 2021 Version

Michigan St is going to lose two games to Michigan this week. They won’t make it.
You can lose games if you have good wins.

Michigan State beat Illinois and Ohio State last week.

That is two wins over top 10 teams.

Why does it matter if you lose games if you have good wins on your resume.

NIT is in Dallas?
Yes one time good deal.

CUSA is hosting it...gotta think they might get a bid even if not deserving (however they have a few decent teams this year). (WKU, ODU, UAB and LaTech all in the running if they don't win the conference tourney)

I personally think we have to get to the ACC Final and beat whomever round one is FSU/UVA and one more to even have a chance at an at-large.

We did very little in the nonconference, don’t have many road wins, don’t have many quad 1 wins.

I give us a 5% at an at-large.

I don't think we would need to do get to the ACC Final to get in. My guess would be the SF if things break the right way. But no real passion to really defend it either way this year.

I hope your right.
I just don’t see enough quality wins.

It would really rely on the power conferences get X number of because...

If i'm on the same page as you, I feel a little better

You could argue (I'm not saying its a particularly strong argument, but you could argue it) that this year, more than any other, due to the lack of intraconference play (relative to other years, I know there was some) you could do more of an allocation by conference.

How Indiana at 12-13 is even in the conversation is crazy.. but Boise/Xavier/Indiana all still ahead of us on ESPN bubblewtch
Lunardi sucks. He had us as the 7th team out after the UNC win on Monday. After most of the teams ahead of us lost to bad teams yesterday, he moves us down to 8th team out. I get that our numbers aren’t stellar, but how do we move DOWN in that situation?

Games of Interest Wednesday, March 3rd:
  • 5PM Clemson at Syracuse: The Cuse must get the win tonight. Tape up the legs of Quincy and Kadary, give them numerous pain killer shots and worry about the consequences tomorrow. Let’s hope Griff hits his first shot and then his head stays in the game. Need Girard to break out of the funk and play hard, smart and regain some swagger
  • 6:30PM Uconn at Seton Hall: Uconn in the 10 seed range, Hall falls in the precarious last 4 in bucket. I’m not saying to root for it, but if you can swallow the foul taste a husky win may be the better outcome.
  • 7PM NC State at Notre Dame: NC State being classified a Quad 1 road win and Quad 2 home win is dependent on the wolfpack staying inside the top 75 NET rankings. As of this morning they moved to #76. We need to root for State to get the road win.
  • 7PM Minnesota at Penn State: Gophers have completely collapsed and played themselves out of the bracket. They are 0-9 on the road and this is their last chance for a road win. Also sitting at 13-12 they need this badly. Root for PSU to throw more dirt on their graves.
  • 10:30PM Stanford at USC: Stanford sits in the first four out bucket. We need USC to protect the home court. A Road win here would likely put the Cardinal back in.

You are setting yourself up to have go kick rocks used in response too.

Hulk needs to just be a little more thoughtful of other perspectives.

Really I feel bad for Orange79 and OrangeDW.
