the crane the crane

If we’re going to use the mass strong arm tactic, why don’t we demand $5 season tickets while we’re at it? I don’t feel like I’m important enough to waste JWs time with an email from me demanding something.
While I would enjoy a camera inside, I have to believe there is a reason for the decision to pass on a camera as JW seemed like he thought it was a good idea. I don’t think they're just being . It has to be to keep a level of secrecy, or perhaps to not open themselves up to a watchful eye of OSHA 24 hours a day.

Skylar still knuckled down.

Craniacs request: Everyone please go to post #5194 above. Please read it then send your email. There was a problem in that this site will not let me type Wildhack's email address. It is keeping it private but I believe everyone should understand it now. Thank you! :)

Please do NOT reference any information gleaned from members of Cuse Council. Council members are bound by an NDA and must respect the terms of that NDA. Certainly natural for some details to come out in casual conversation, but direct reference to discussions held in Council meetings can have a negative impact on the confidential information that is shared with that group.

Further, John is nothing more than a tenant in the stadium. He does not own or manage the project. Any interaction should be with Pete Sala, not John.

I get that there could be a reasonable rationale...but now more than ever, how that rationale is communicated is massively important. A two line note from an EA completely negates the request. From a pr standpoint, that’s 1) unnecessary and 2) poor judgement when the requestors are, by definition, the most engaged backers of the program.

how about a reasonable counter? ”While we aren’t able to put cameras inside based on safety and privacy reasons [or whatever], what we will do is work with our social media team to provide multiple updates per week and stay as engaged as possible to answer questions with you as the project moves forward. This is for you and we WANT you to feel involved.”

>ALERT TO ALL CRANIACS AND THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEE WORK PROGRESSING INSIDE THE DOME< THIS MESSAGE IS NOT ONLY INTENDED FOR MEMBERS, GRADUATES AMONG YOU, BUT FOR THOSE LURKERS OUT THERE AND PEOPLE WHO GENUINELY CARE ABOUT WATCHING HISTORY AS IT IS HAPPENING !!!!

Request:
We would like a camera inside the Dome to observe the creation of the new ROOF and eventually its installation. Some of you who have been here since the beginning have responded to my email to John Wildhack. Thank you! The reply to me this morning is obvious in the post above. Brevity exemplified!!

Tomcat and I have decided that it would be best if ALL OF YOU who would like to observe what's going on inside the Dome should WRITE YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL EMAIL to John Wildhack with your own message to make a positive impression on he and Mr. Sala. Sometimes numbers speak very effectively and we had a lot of you speak in your posts since November over 5,200 posts. Remember, our request is quite simple - we would like a camera a la Lawrinson. Send your email to: jwildhac
This is John Wildhack, Athletic Director, Syracuse University. The site will not allow me to complete his address. If you can type the at symbol then the first three letters in syracuse a dot then edu, you've got it. Or look it up in the Syracuse Athletics Department directory. It's right there with his smiling face next to it. Sorry for all this about the address guess they are trying to keep it private. Here we go but close it up:
j w i l d h a c @ s y r . e d u

If you are not familiar with the details please read my email to him in post #5,187 above or if you have questions, please post to either me or tomcat and we will try to be as helpful as possible.

Some information about John. When you read the post above note that Mr. Wildhack was very positive about the camera. I do not wish to post blame but perhaps Mr. Sala is very stressed because of all of his responsibilities and does not see the value in this situation. Or it could be that he doesn't know where to plug the camera in. ;)

PLEASE DO THIS ASAP! Thank you! :)
I had to delete Bill’s email to the AD because it included information that is not public and should not have been posted on a public forum. In addition, the athletic department does not control the dome and is just the primary tenant for the building. The actual person who controls the dome project is Pete Sala. If you want a camera inside the dome to stream construction progress, he is actually the guy to write to. I think Bill has his email address.

Apologies! I was given permission to try and get a camera for us. Tomcat was distracted and busy and forgot to tell me that the information in his meeting was privileged so I posted what he sent to me.

IMO: If John Wildhack was running the show we would have had a camera and still may.

Whatever their reason, I will miss reporting and having the daily interaction with you. It was, I believe, informative and fun. And still may be if that camera gets installed somehow.

Well depending on how the new roof is put together and raised we may be able to get a glimpse of the assembly and the raising. Also I believe the camera may be controlled by Haynor Hoyt as it's their website the video comes from.

If I lived in NY, I'd sneak into the dome and get you that camera, Bill. Best I can do from here is set up a camera out my living room so you can watch people run my stop sign (in a school zone) all day, and maybe the occasional moose.

There is, but it would take 2 hours for a low level worker to set up a camera and live stream on YouTube. Promote it a bit and try to get a few more season tickets paid for.

2 hours? I could set it up in 5-7 minutes

The inside of the dome in my opinion shouldn’t be streamed though. Perhaps they are planning a surprise for when everyone returns. The first day back experience has to be a special one

All that will going on at this stage will be the raising of the cable system for the new roof.

No moose here but I'm watching this huge, long haired cat who keeps showing up under my bird feeder. He's been stalking moles who have been eating the bird seed that has spilled onto the ground. I'm rooting for the cat.

I think this perhaps should be your theme song. I see parts of all of your adventures in this prophetic one minute trailer:

No worries, Bill. And while the information may not seem all that sensitive, the reference to the Council discussion could negatively impact the trust factor.

I have had a number of interactions with John and the cool thing about him is he is absolutely a fan first above all else. He is an alum and comes from an intensely Orange family and is absolutely committed to successful programs, both from a win/loss perspective, and equally importantly from a customer sat perspective.

Don’t give up on your camera. Certainly there are higher priorities right now, but be assured your voice has been heard.

Thank you for the explanation and empathy. It means a great deal to me. I was about to get on my horse and get out of town, afraid my friends were after me. ;)

I believe if John Wildhack was also in control of the Dome and being the AD he is, a camera would have been installed the same afternoon the Golden Girder was slid into place. For me, he has a personality that is all Orange. A smiling, likable man who knows a lot about what Syracuse fans want and tries to provide it.

Exactly. As I said before, if SU wants to on one hand engage with the public in this curt and stingy manner while on the other hand pleading poverty in asking everyone to hurry up and buy season tickets, fair enough.

But it's no wonder that a lot of people don't have a positive view of the institution. They can't get out of their own way on simple PR stuff.
