the crane the crane

OK movement it must be they've eaten let's see what happens/ Two of the crew are loading something they'll need into the carrier - Walt's operator is raising the cable and hook above the Dome so the carrier isn't going anywhere for now. Many of the crew are and were looking towards the direction of Crouse. Still think they're waiting for a delivery. Back to the Carrier - it's a rectangular metal box - maybe not used to hoist people but supplies needed up to where they are working on the crown truss - but when it was coming down and put on the ground it looked to me then like two of the crew got out.

I don't know if this is the right place, but I figured it was better than the Messidor recruiting thread. CuseLegacy or any other mod can move it if there is a more appropriate location.

I thought this was a good light piece to cover some of what I was saying.
Most of the images were too large, but below are a handful of renderings for new or recent stadium designs.

And at the bottom,an old one, Shea Stadium in this case, for perspective. These often wanted a final design as they were hand painted rather than using computers, but the idea is the same. A rendering is something that often tries to show a desired energy or life. It tries to give an idea of a gameday atmosphere and express a big idea for a project. Often they are field views during a game, or in a plaza for per-game. That is typically done for fund raising. If all funds are raised, and there is very little being done to enhance the experience (as is the case with the current roof replacement focus) then there is little to gain and a lot to lose in the way of donors, or public opinion.

Look here at an image search on Google.

Lots of attention being paid to the red carrier by the spiral column - getting it ready for something.
There it goes! Hope some see this. The red carrier has been hoisted up and over the Dome to the last spiral steel column towards the Live Cam - they are working on something there - Walt is steady. Tomcat have any idea what they could be doing - Legacy? For those who missed it there is a rectangular carrier with two crew now attached to the last column. It's red about a third of the way down the column. It's hard to make out but it's there - went up about 2:15 and it's 2:30. What a day to be there and watch this. Maybe Bees is there taking shots of what's going on and what their doing to the column? I wonder how the carrier attaches to the column? Seems very still.

Now the white crane in Walt's yard is in motion - let's see what up with it/ for now just waiting. The boom of the white crane on the opposite side of the Dome form the Live cam has been in motion most of the day. Lots of action today. The operator in the white crane in the yard has been rotating the boom and raising and lowering the hook and hoist at the end of the lift cable. Practicing? One of the crew just put cables or slings on the hook of the white crane maybe he'll be lifting something soon? Spiral steel trailer coming?

Now you can see the red carrier up against the closest white column. Coming down soon? It looks like they are slowly working their way down the column and working on both sides@3:33P.M. Just checked the weather for Syracuse - 40's to the middle of next week then much colder makin' hay while they can! There are and must have been crew on the top ridge of the Dome on the ring girder at the base of the column being worked on. The white crane is all set up for a delivery of columns or box girders but nothing yet.

The white crane operator just got back in his cab so maybe the trailers are close? Nope! Now they are going to move stuff around to make more room?

Just a thought. All of the crew must be supplied with a communication device. Wonder how they've updated them from a walkie talkie type to something else like an I phone for construction. They'd have to have some heft to them - too easy to slip out a grasp.

Their done with the column and on the way back into the yard. Two crew up working for two hours safely back on the ground. Cool.

False alarm on the deliveries - they did do something on the collar of the near column then finished for the day I believe.

Play by play on a construction project? Not nearly as exciting as one might believe.

We all have the option of liking the project or not. Some of us find it amazing - history as it is happening. So, go watch something else if you don't like the Dome construction. Some people find the bra ads here for big busted women more exciting - maybe you're one of those people.
A $118m new Dome roof and all the work that goes into getting it done is very interesting. On the other hand you have the right to speak your opinion or keep it to yourself. Or go someplace else. :)

I like both. Can you adjust your play by play accordingly? Thank you!

I like the construction. Especially the pics that actually show something going on. Several posts in row saying that essentially nothing is happening is not interesting. I couldn't care less if the guy is starting the engine...if they're breaking for lunch..or if they are just standing around. Yes, the project is very interesting. Very. Your play by play is not. By the way, I haven't seen any of those ads but I'm curious as to how you know they are there...just saying.

The construction is, a lot of the time, boring especially when the work is happening on the far side of the Dome and we can't see it. And, that's what is actually happening - the operator is sitting in his cab for two hours waiting for the crew in the air to finish the work then he brings them back down. I'm describing what's actually happening. If you don't like it and find the play by play dull don't watch. I can't type something that isn't for your entertainment. Like describing bra ads and what the women who are wearing them for your amusement. I must admit sometimes I do look at those ads because I am bored. The entire project is slow. The best part of the entire project up till now was for me watching the crane operator lift the crew to the spiral steel column a hundred or so feet in the air and bring them back down.NM

Put him on ignore if you don't like his "play by play".

I see a collar has been added to one of the spiral steel columns in the Irving storage area. And some of the crew is standing on the box girder there. I think that spiral, based on its length, is going up on the Irving Ave side of the northwest box girder complex. Then, if they continue with their normal approach, they will use the box girder to extend the top rail to the new standalone spiral. Then, they will add spiral columns on both sides of the first one to go up today to complete the arrowhead (and the 3 arrowheads that hold up the top rail in the northwest diagonal corner.

I assume the same things will be happening today in the northeast corner. It looks like they are in open competition with each other at this point...

Anyway, it should be a banner day for crane enthusiasts.

Crane nerd heaven today. 6 visible right now of all shapes and sizes, and #7 just went behind a building (might be for an ESF project).
