Yes it is. Fran was actually turned down twice by Kraft. He interviewed but was passed over for Manny Diaz. Diaz then left a couple of weeks later for Miami and Fran interviewed a second time and passed over again for Rod Carey.

Everyone thinks that making X-milllion dollars per year warrants irrational expectations. More than one hundred teams play for the championship starting week zero. Between 10-20 have a reasonable shot. ADs expecting championships annually is an impossibility. Even Saban wasn't that good.

I have no sympathy for Franklin. He is guaranteed another $50MM to not coach. Yet the unreasonable expectation that they win championships annually is moronic.

Obviously, we fans are exempt from irrational expectations, we have a right to them.

My comment: Any current head coach in the B1G or SEC is going to be very difficult for Penn State to acquire. Indiana, eg, has just as much money as PSU has to retain Cignetti. A coach from the ACC or Big12, like Campbell, would be much easier to outbid.

I think we really shouldn’t poke holes in Fran’s flaws and be like hey there is no way they can be interested. They would be fortunate to have him. He would win a national championship there just like I hope he can here. We need to support our guy. The administration needs to make sure Fran has all the resources to compete at the highest levels. And Syracuse dominating the northeast should be a major factor of the downfall Nebraskaesque era they may finally be exiting and Penn State is about to enter.

Penn State sits in one of the top producers of HS FB talent in the country. Nebraska - not at all.

I watched the Penn State AD's press conference, trying to explain why he fired Franklin. Anyone on here who has berated John Wildhack in the past should realize how much more impressive, professional, and classy Wildhack is than Pat Kraft. If Kraft was the AD at Temple when Fran got snubbed, that closes the book on the possibility of Fran ever going to PSU to work for that guy. Besides that Kraft would never offer it to him.

Yeah the caller who made the correlation that this was the AD who snubbed Fran on ESPN Syracuse did great research. I said it would be stupid for Penn State to not even be interested in Fran and if the bridge was really burned then. The stupid part wasn’t given him the job at Temple.
