The QB's

To make a comprehensive list, you’ll need to go through all the private messages of people who bash TD there, but praise him to his Dad in public. It’ll be tough work. ;)
I’d bet several mortgage payments that there are exponentially more of the former than the latter

Knows what, might I ask ...
If you haven't been following along, here is the synopsis.

All the transfer qbs in the country know the talent Devito has. If the team isn't scoring or doing well, it must be on everything else. The oline is garbage, the wrs are garbage, the coaching and play calling are garbage.

What transfer would want to play for a garbage team like Syracuse AND have to compete against the best qb in the country?

Succinct synopsis. All meat, no fat or gristle. A+

And btw Tommy has plenty of power 5 teams interested in his services . Tommys fraternity of QBs , and people in the circuit is tremendous and very far reaching . you can take your foot out of your mouth anytime you want unless you enjoy that kinda stuff
Foot out of my mouth? You may need a thicker skin if you are going to post here as a parent of the most scrutinized position on a football team. My posts were more of a reaction or commentary to the posts claiming that Tommy's dad is saying that everything other than his son is the problem with SU football and trashing the program. Go back and re-read the posts. My original post was "I'm not sure why he would transfer? If Tommy gets a better pocket presence, he could do damage with his arm. I know our OL has been inconsistent the last 2 seasons but some of those sacks are on Tommy too."

Is your son the only problem with SU football...obviously not. Is he part of the problem...absolutely. Probably not a good look for the Dad of SU's starting qb to be trashing the program he is currently part of on a fan message board. Hopefully everything works out for your son in the future rather it be at SU or elsewhere.

I'm not a hater of any college kid, wish them all the best. However, you can put me on the list of people that would rather have someone else lead the team at QB next year.
Exactly,I just want SU football to win regardless of who is the qb. Dad, and rightfully so, cares more about Tommy than he does the program. I get it, it's his son. But Dad should also understand that most people here, on a SU fan forum, care more about the program and will be here long after Tommy either transfers or graduates.

From a university standpoint, there isn't any proud dad from Jersey that has the potential for greater returns than this one...;):)

Most of us have been SU die hards before Tommy was born and we will be fans when he leaves. That's the difference. We want SU to do well no matter who the QB is. Dad wants SU to do well with his son at QB which is understandable. That's why his presence on this board is not a good mix.

The funny thing about this is, while I suspect the coaching and play calling are fine - the rest *is* kind of why we've had a tough time bringing in a transfer to compete with Tommy.

I know the soup de jour is that our coaching staff can't recruit QBs or is so in love with TD that they are sabotaging themselves (this is the bats&*T one).. but I think that is less likely than the combo in this overly sarcastic post

I think he brings a lot of good to the board, he just needs to leave out the teammate bashing on a public forum.

Bashing players is a big thing. We have been fans of this team long before TD. His general comments and football talk is good. I like his personality and all but I rather not have parents on this forum if they cant take the positive and the negative. He says he can take it but then reacts like that. Its one thing to glance on here every now and again and make a few comments . Its another thing constantly defending and questioning peoples opinions. The board should not adjust for him. Its not worth the insight. I have a big concern for his emotional well being also. There's a lot into being a parent of a D1 athlete, especially QB. If he has to react towards members like that then its not a good place for him to be.

I hear you.

My problem is with parents or fans bashing the players. It's a sport, not life and death but some of you all go after players like it is personal which is mine boggling and chicken . Constructive criticism or observations like Money provides is one thing, some of you though take personal shots and that's entirely different. You know who you are, you usually chime in during game threads or the threads that usually start after a loss.

The mods here do an excellent job in managing and/or deleting those far and few between posts that you're talking about, seemingly making it personal, etc. Of course, those types of posts are complete malarkey. For the most part, IMO, the vast majority of posts fall in the constructive criticism, etc. area.

Now, those game threads are something else, I agree with you there. However, my understanding is that it's general board knowledge that those game threads fall in the no holds barred type category, etc. And, with that being the case, where so much emotion is running rapid, etc., those crimes of passion so to speak get the temporary insanity plead, along without any judgement passed. I've seen some posters in those threads, even ones that are viewed here in high esteem, occasionally not walk the line. ;)

Here’s a question. Would you guys want to play against Tommy if he was a behind a good OLine? I sure wouldn’t.

There are maybe a dozen good OLs in the nation and they all have QBs just as good as TD.

It’s crazy that Manvel has the two starting QB’s for Miami and FL but their coach couldn’t bring anyone here

I’m more and more in the camp that we are going to need a dual threat QB to compete. Having an equalizer like that helps hide some of the talent deficiencies we have. Just look at some of the best QB’s at the position and now they are literally changing how the position is played. We had that in a way with Dungey.

One can make a Top 10 list of QBs in the ACC and a Top 10 list of best fit for SU QBs in the ACC and they would be very different. Tommy would be higher ranked in the former and lower ranked (if ranked) in the latter.

I like everyone wanted TD to succeed. There is not one fan that does not want every player to be a star.
I keep hearing. It’s the line, wr, play calling etc. personally the first time I saw real problems was 2018 against ND. Clark Lee called a great game. Blitzed heavy, changed coverages and confused TD. It seemed like all teams used that game as a blue print to defend TD.
I was really hoping in the off season he would learn to read D better, handle the blitz and go through his progressions . Last year when I saw similar issues as the ND game I like others placed blame on the line and cavenaugh.
Again this season I still did not observe the growth from that initial ND game. Yes the line is suspect and rb was limited but as a four year player I expected more growth.
TD throws a great long ball. It’s the short and intermediate routes that concern me. Also rolling out while giving time to his receivers. These are things I would have liked to seen improvement.
I know a lot of people want TD to come back and feel he will excel with a stronger line. I am not sure that is guaranteed after seeing his development over the last couple of years.
I know the qb room is limited but I am looking forward to seeing Morgan and possibly markowitz over the next three games. I expect mistakes. They are true freshman not four year players but if they continue to improve with every game it gives me hope for the future.

Great post my man. Your thoughts are pretty fair.
