Not worth commenting on any of it since it appears some people still don't know how the zone is played. And I don't think anyone has listened to JB or opposing coaches at all. I guess they all lie or don't know basketball.

It wasn't a "bash" thread. It's an Upside/Downside thread that said that both his critics and defenders have been over the top.

It is pretty simple. Listen to coaches instead of fans. But I guess understanding what we do defensively and offensively might be a bit difficult for some. And fwiw, it's not a public forum, it's a private forum.

Wow. So this is basically the Syracusefan board equivalent of when Walter Cronkite went on national TV and declared defeat in Vietnam. A respected and level headed figure makes a proclamation on one side of a heated and debated issue thus making it ok for people to take that side of the argument.

Cooney isn't perfect and he's had bad games, but SWC you have made it ok for the mythology to begin right here and now that Cooney is the worst starter in two decades? One of the worst players in SU history, etc. I'm reading that here. It is crazy. Just last year Joseph started 30 games!

Your position on this board demands more of you than you gave in this post SWC. You are known as a historical context and data guy. But you knocked down the last barriers protecting a player who has played his guts out for 5 years for our favorite team in a post that provides neither of those things.

I think you're overstating things a bit. The anti-Cooney sentiment has been popping up on this board and elsewhere for quite a while now. I don't think SWC75's post will change anyone's position on the matter.

People will Knee jerk reaction to say it is not enough offense.

what is Cooney giving us One out of three games with average production on points.

I love one coaches say our opponents defense on Cooney open things up for others when Cooney has the ball.

It's kind of hard when you dribble with your head down and not facing the basket or when you are facing the basket you driving to the defense and get plunged. Also hard when you can't pass into the post!

Our game is decided by defense and rebounding and I believe this lineup is so significantly better on the board it's not even comparable
