These journalists have a license to bully people. No different when a group of kids get a hold of information on the internet and spread it around with accusations against one of their peers.
These journalists are not putting out newsworthy reporting or commentary. They are merely ranting and raving to beef up the traffic to their medium.
Almost, none of these journalists have written anything scholarly from a sports perspective or with a shred of insighfulness or real thought. They are simply focused to create a stampede of public opinion and are in the game trying to direct it down the various paths they have preselected from their bullypulpit.
These jounalists see Boeheim, figuratively and not literally, as wounded , having taken some blows to the body, and getting back up from the mat. All they are doing is going in for the kill, trying to knock him down by repeating their unsupported and ridiculous clarion call to have him fired.
These journalists have completely ignored the fact that there is not a shred of fact that Boeheim knew anything and this is diametrically opposite to Penn State. In Penn State they have evidence of Sandusky taking showers with boys and raping of boy(s) in the shower, and in such a brazen manner, exposed to the public. And no investigation was conducted and the matter wa s not looked into. In Syracuse, they had Davis' isolated accusation, submitted to the Police, attemted to be communicated to the DA's office, submitted to Syracuse University, submitted to the Post Standard and ESPN. After independent reviews, none of those five different entities thought there was anything but an unsupported allegation. With the allegations being reported to the University, the Press and the Police /DA and with that much firepower in Syracuse looking at the Davis allegation, Boeheim, at that time, was merely a pimple on the elephant's back.
Look at the three people that have recently come forward. Davis and Lang were at Bernie's wedding. I do not know what the actual relationship was , but Davis essentially lived at the Fine's house. To the extent that Bernie perpetrated wrongful acts upon Davis, it is dispictable. However, I would imagine that in carrying out our own daily lives, seeing Davis hanging around the Fines should have been no big deal. Davis was essentially an extension of Fine's family. Davis also stated that Boeheim was not around and would not have known. Moving onto to accuser no. 2, there is very little information on Lang. Lastly, the third accusser who is facing his own trial and possibly with a different motive spoke , aafter c0mmunicating with Davis, of two incidents (in Pittsburgh and in Bernies house) behind closed doors . The third accuser's own father has said they never met Fine, has called him a liar and a master manipulator! Lastly, we have the Tape. At this time we don't know if it was altered. Assume for a moment it was not. Davis never gave the Tape to Syracuse or Boeheim. What I really got out of the tape was that Fine was taking advantage of Davis over an extended period of time. Nobody else was mentioned , despite Davis' efforts to draw out that information. Again, and unfortunately for Davis, given his entended relationship with the Fine family, seeing Davis hanging around the Fine family was not a suspicious event.
I am certainly not saying that Bernie is innocent. Not at all. But at the same time there is certainly nothing that suggests we should not lend a helping hand to Boeheim to lift him up off the mat. There is absolutely no reason for Boeheim, a very good man and public citizen, to have sea legs.
