This game was gross all around, but...

People's reactions are worse.

Good lord, chill the out.

What do you expect? For two straight weeks, we have looked like a Pop Warner offense. And this week, our defense looked completely lost.

This is NCAA Division I FBS football. Not a weekly game of canasta.

Don't want to respond and be nasty, but our expectations were different. Simple as that.

It will get better, it's been 2 games against quality competition.

So far so bad, but already questioning Shafer's hire? I can only LOL.

As I said before, I really hope you are right. Quality teams, yes. But the communication issues on top of the seeming unpreparedness.

I want to believe. But this is not the type of start you would hope for. Regardless of opponent.

In addition the God awful penalties are a sign of no discipline. It does not appear that HCSS has paid attention to detail. Doug did. Oh I went there.

Completely logical and well said. Bravo!

people are scared to death-they see a robinson 2.0 offense and a defense that wants to start emulating the robinson era also

I blame the people in charge of the schedule. How the can we schedule these two games to start the season? I mean seriously when the hell are we going to learn.

We need to start with a guaranteed w every year and then go from there. To start with two road games ( and yes penn state was basically a road game) is so stupid.

Now we are 0-2 and have looked pathetic in doing so and have less than zero confidence. Great way to start the season!!!

exactly why blame the staff for bad preparation piss poor planning-
this is all on the guy who schedules games- mcdonalds dead horse offense has zero to do with it

How many INTs do you allow Allen to have until you pull him in the next game? Why do you only give Smith 10 carries? Their are a lot of questions that are legitimate on this Board that the coaches need to answer. HCSS says its on him - its time he does something to change it up - that's what CEOs do.

The loses are expected. Being disorganized, a complete lack of communication, very poor game planning is not. We do not look as if we are prepared at all. The team has not just lost two games it has regressed in key areas and that is on the coaches. Like you i played at the college level. Basketball not football. Played football in HS. Coaching is huge. Shafer is a good coach he understands how to coach and game plan on D. I expect that the D will be fine long term. McDonald other than a mediocre run for two years in the Mac doesnt have much experiance in game planning or game management and it is really showing. Recruiting and coaching WR's is a very long ways from a success at OC. He has jumped around about once every 18 months and he has always been hired for his recruiting not for his coaching. He is a recruiter first and a coach second and it is really showing. Not saying he cant grow into a solid OC but at this point he is pretty horrible.

2 weeks in well coached teams have some answers -

where was that 2nd week improvement so many expected ?

run d looks good because we cant stop the pass and they dont use the run-

and you cant be serious about improvement on the o-side-

There had to be 12-15 tipped passes from Drew last night, resulting in 2 of the INT's. A lot of that comes from his tunnel vision. Even the DLine knows where he's throwing. He also threw some perfect balls.

Shafer's biggest defensive flaw have come against dual threat QB's, he always seems to have problems with them.

Why Kendall Moore didn't stay on the field is beyond me. That kid was a pleasant surprise. Why let him only run one series (3 for 30, td) when he has sure-fire hands?

The communication problems caused issues again last night. I hate that sideline look every play. Drew's signals to the WR's were mixed up a good chuck of the time. What.

With all of that being said, if you want to start hating on the staff/players, stay home next week.

As brilliant as always I see. Robinson teams topped 435 four times, UB twice, Northeastern, and the where did this come from game against Lville, that's it.

Just stop it. You have a new OC and new QB thrown in the deep end and they are struggling, we get it. But it's not close to the mess that was Robinson football. Once they adjusted to a limited set of plays it was much different from the middle of the 2nd quarter onwards.

Nobody is staying home next week just because they point out flaws. My issue is not that we lost but that we look lost. Losing two games to good teams on the road is not the issue. Not being prepared is

We can stop the pass better than we did in this game. NW is elite made some amazing throws. The couldn't run on us - most rushing yards from Colter on broken plays.

Throw out the INT for a minute - they looked much better, ESP in the 2nd half. Still tons of issues, but the improvement was there.

1. Ashton looked better this week.
2. Smith is a beast, Oline moved ppl this week.
3. Estime.
4. Play calling looked much crisper in the 2nd half.
5. O got into a nice groove on TD drives, that were not there in the Penn St game.

Biggest issue was INT.

I honestly saw a lot that I like and this team is going to get better if they continue to fight. I thought the offensive line got better as the game went on after struggling the first two series. We have some talent and speed on offense and I saw more players play last night than I can remember playing in a long long time vs a good team. Yeah, it was because were getting our butts handed to us but those new guys showed some spark and it wasn't like we had a big dropoff when they came in and for some they may have earned more snaps.

We're certainly struggling and it's very difficult to accept that as a fan. We got pasted and it really hurts, especially when expectations have been running high with a very talented group of runners, a defense we expected to keep us in games, and coaches that were fired up. The NW game wasn't the draft of the script we signed off on.

However, we have a new team with new coaches, playmakers, and leaders. They got smacked around pretty good yesterday and it's gotta hurt like hell. They have a lot of work to do and need support far more than they need criticism. Here's hoping that they make good changes over the next three weeks and are a better team as we head into the ACC schedule.

Agreed...Now we find out the true character of this team. Will we have drama and finger pointing or players/staff owning up to their mistakes and learning from them.

My only beef is not running Smith enough, he was a major ingredient that turned the tide last year leading to our 6-1 run in the last 7 games. Once we started giving him 20-25 touches, we started winning.

SU football is smash mouth, not this! As KCSU says, we look lost out there.
