This one is all on the coaching.
1. it was abundantly clear that Clark was abusing Joe on both ends of the court. It was plain as day. Yet JB waited until the seven minute mark to make the substitution of Symir for Joe and then when we were playing better with Symir for some reason he reinserted Joe even on defense when we were pressing.
2. we have an offense where Jimmy Boeheim gets 18 shots and Jesse Edwards gets five. That is not by accident. And despite the fact that Jesse had a huge size advantage in the game JB sat him for long stretches because Jesse, a seven footer, could not get out to defend the corner three. And as a result Virginia got a number of easy layups and offensive rebounds.
3. Clark absolutely dominated the game and no adjustments were made whatsoever to get the ball out of his hands in stark contrast to what Bennett tried to do it buddy. And to rub salt in the wounds we happily allowed Clark to get the ball and purposely fouled him to their best, hottest, most clutch player on the line to seal the game.

I can't understand for the life of me why we don't draw up set plays for Jesse in the low post. It's incomprehensible that we don't do that.

Also, I like Jimmy and I know he plays hard, but he throws up a lot of garbage mid-range floaters that have no business being attempted.

Because his shots are only worth 2 points? It’s Christmas year 2 and 3 all over again.

The foul line hook shot seems to be a new addition.

No matter how bad UVA is Clark always destroys the zone. He always knows where he’s going with the ball and when he has time to get his 3 off (which is often) he nails it. I can’t believe we still leave him open after all these years lol. Not to mention how badly ge kills us defensively too

Who can give him an entry pass?

This is a 3pt shooting team….

The crazy part is that there were probably 10 times where I thought he was going to shoot and didn’t while being WIDE open because there was 15 second or so on the shot clock. Such a smart player.

crazy as it may sound, as it is a super simple basic thing to do in basketball, they cant pass the ball into the low post effectively. theyre too closely gaurded its "too risky"

Clark can't score when he's guarded. But if you leave him open in the zone with nobody within 6 feet of him he'll kill you. Same every game we play them. No adjustment by the coaching staff.

Took the kids to the game. Never really felt like SU would win the game. Virginia moved the ball so much better than SU. Our offense is basically all pick and roll or one on one. I can't stand how Buddy can make huge turnovers in the second half and JB says nothing to him. I like Buddy and he has turned into a great player but he obviously needs to rest a few minutes each half and JB plays him the whole game. I'm not sure if wins or Buddy's stats and getting to the next level is more important at this point. Please realize you don't relate to 19 year olds at 77 and ride off into the sunset with your sons after the season ends with a loss in the first round of the NIT.

The reason I give Buddy a pass for the turnovers are is because nobody else on the floor can do anything with the ball in a positive way. If Buddy has 4 turnovers it means he probably did a lot of other things right, which he did. There is a lot to be upset about this team, Buddy may be the last thing to be upset about even though he is frustrating at times.

Even tied, close, or the time we were up for a bit, I felt the same way, they just moved the ball so well against us that you knew they could score when they needed to.

I don’t often chime in. I’m a professional lurker. My first memory of SU basketball was listening to games with Bing and Coach in the backcourt. I’ve lived and died SU basketball
I’ve coached basketball for 38 years..
Tonight the X’s and O’s Spoke for themselves.
It was obvious.
I was lucky enough tonight to have seats near the bench.
I was shocked the way he speaks to his players.
It was all about him. Not these kids who are trying their best.

Able to paraphrase at all? I’m going to the Miami game Wednesday to what I assume will be a more empty than full arena with close seats, I may get a taste.
