TNIAAM calls for Reed's head and Whigham benching.

I actually agree with bees - he is an authority because he's built up a readership. I used to read everything they put out. But it has gotten over the top negative.

I mostly think it stems from John Casullo..

Perhaps, but by that standard Sarah Palin would be an authority!

Bees never said he was an authority, he said that he built a brand and did a good job of it.

One of the million dudes that wants to be Bill Simmons. Kinda like those crappy TV shows that tried to copy Miami Vice.

Agree 100%, they all want to be legends and cutting edge but they are really just obnoxious and bring such little value to anything. It's just total white noise as they look for more clicks. They can't write anything positive with respect to shafer or the program because that's not what cny people want to read. They want to bitch and moan.

I'm going to start my own blog and website. Riley Dixon is an absolute magician and start posting nonsense. Is this really what his career aspirations are to post shite like this? Is this how one gets ahead in this field? I'm just curious.

What does he actually know about Fred Reid and the job he does
it's too bad because other schools sites on sbnation are incredibly informative.

I definitely agree that Cassillo creates a negative vibe over there, among others. The negativity is 95% focused on the football program. He makes good points in his writing but it always ends up with someone getting fired, benched or people suck because they don't watch SU football. It gets boring, and as a fan sometimes offensive. I like Keeley's style though, he can write some damn good perspective/ creative pieces. My eyes burn if/when I try to read Bud so not many options out there strictly focused on Orange sports.

His brand blows. He just has no competition.. That is where I will take over. Hulka, will you be my sidekick? Be like an odd couple type thing, you are very grouchy and I can be too. Will be great. What a brand.

Call it, "big toe and barrel". Francessa won't know what hit him.

So long, Warren Oates

I shouldn't have said he's an authority - but that people see him as that due to his readership.

I used to enjoy TNIAAM because of its entertainment value and comical nature. My personal favorites were the mascot pieces where all the Big East mascots would basically talk smack to one another. Unfortunately it's not really that anymore, thus, I don't read it anymore. Doesn't mean a lot of people don't still like it, just not for me.

I used to visit TNIAAM, Orangefizz, Scooowaaat prior to the exodus, rivals and syracuse dot com religiously. Now I'm basically down to syracusefan. Some syracusedotcom for the articles and Scooooowwaaat during late January and February.

Is that because my taste changed though?

I look for more statistical data and good conversation now.

I used to love going to that site, now I rarely visit because of the negative views and the overly critical writers including Keeley. He goes on Axe's show and acts like he is an authority on Syracuse Athletics and the views of it's fans. Haven't agreed with much he has said or written lately. Just not funny anymore, nor very entertaining.

Bingo. TNIAAM started as a "must click" everyday for me it was funny and clever and truly captured the mind of the typical SU fan.

But in the last few months the tone has changed dramatically. For me I can instantly tell what is written by Sean, who I still find very clever and entertaining, and what is written by other members, who try to write like Sean, but mostly come off as negative and needlessly snarky.

In the beginning my reaction to TNIAAM pieces was "lol, exactly!", but now it's mostly "What? Go yourself".

He needs to be careful, SU fans don't go to his site to get editorial pieces by bloggers who think they're "objective journalists", they go there to get "homer humor"- which nobody does better.

Wonder if he changed tone purposely to get a broader audience.

This! Would read it everyday in the past, but started only reading what Sean wrote because I can't stand the other writers. Now I don't bother even going over there.

Exactly, for lack of a better phrase another "hipster wannabe"... ( Tool song in there somewhere, where is Mason when you need him) That is some angry music.

I liked Simmons but the guys trying to be like him are way too many these days

To me, blogs have 2 purposes: either make me laugh or make me think.

I have no interest in a blog making me angry or exasperated, I'm too old and life is too short.

Seemed like a lot of it changed when they joined SBNation and brought in more writers.

Everything is negative there. The general tone here, with some discussion, was that the Wisconsin series was good and something to look forward to. Theirs was "OMG SU What ARE YOU PEOPLE RABBLE RABBLE #HOTTAKTE #HOTTAKE!!!111!" A far higher percentage of their commenters are Syracuse.com worthy than we have here. And it just isn't fun.

This is a recent example after the LSU game:

"Now comes the hard part.
Oh, you didn't think everything was fixed now, did you? Oh...you did. Oh..."

Who thought "everything was fixed?" There was optimism that a kid who played for a low division JUCO was able to hold his s*** together and eventually move the ball and score 21 points in a half against LSU with 3 TD passes. That's optimism, that isn't an everything is fixed attitude. Some of the other writers are incapable of taking a positive slant on anything.

The one good thing they do is cover the non revenue sports. I like reading about the soccer, field hockey and cross country teams. They do a decent job covering them.

Ironically they have a more positive take on those sports.
