Tucker on 44

If only orange athletics handled themselves the way Sean Tucker does. Super classy response. 44 hasn’t been relevant in well over 50 years. The last person to wear it is more famous for swimming to shore than playing football. My thought is who cares about 44, most people don’t. The university screwed up retiring it to begin with. Now that’s it’s been off the shelf, it’s all been forgotten.

He can see how Walker is killing it at Sparty, and is much more relevant there than had he stayed with Wake (who are having a great -for them - season also).

He gone.
A few weeks ago, I think it was after the FSU game, you called me out for calling for Dino’s job. You were right, I was wrong. You even said you were putting me on your ignore list because of it. I admit I was being emotional and short sighted. I think you are being equally shortsighted with this post right here, though I will not be putting you on ignore.

Everyone makes mistakes.

Let’s look at the advantages of staying;

- Read option scheme that provides tons of snaps
- Undisputed #1 RB on the team
- Third year on the same P5 D1 team
- Big fish in a small pond
- 30 more academic credits at SU

I’m not sure what real advantage there is to leaving. More NIL money? Perhaps, but I’m not sure if that moves the needle enough. This offensive scheme is perfect for him.

Carries are carries. So I don't think #1 is an advantage in general. Other P5 schools with 100 yard rushers and more attractive: Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Baylor, Michigan State. There are plenty of others with 90 as well.

If any of the above have openings then he would be #1 RB. Also the coaching carousel matters. A new HC is more willing to get go an xfer.

He would be P5 if he left.

That is a negative IMO. With NIL you should want exposure. You get very little of it at SU. He isn't on many Heisman lists. That doesn't happen at a better program. More $ and better for your brand in the B1G or SEC.

The chance to play against better competition, play for the playoffs, and make more money seems like reason to leave. If a school like A&M or Wisconsin came sniffing around he would stay because of an SU degree?

You’re always thinking people are leaving in both sports no matter if we are winning or losing. Every blind squirrel finds a nut eventually, but the dramatic posts will just keep on coming no matter what.
Read my post and stay positive. It will all work out.

So. We want our team to win. But don’t win too much or the coaches will leave. We also want our players to play well but not too well because then they might leave too.

Do I have that right?

Not every situation is dire and every single program across the country has its warts. I was at the Liberty game with a BIG University of Texas booster. The stories he was telling me about Tom Herman and the athletic department were NOTHING compared to here.

You never know what's going to happen with carries if you go somewhere else. I bet Kadary, Woody Newton, and Quincy all thought they would be getting more minutes/shots when they put their name in the portal. It didn't work out that way. The top schools are factories and no matter what they say to get him there, will have many top athletes he will have to compete with for carries. At SU, he's getting every single carry for a run-centric offense.

No actually just another important D player and 2 coaches. Both D. I dont expect anything. I just share what im told.
I was told in the Spring Shrader would start. I was told during the Rutgers weekend that 2 D players were most likely leaving. I was also told that there was a very good chance 2 D coaches were most likely gone. I was never told anything about Taj or Tommy or Tucker. Tucker is pure speculation.
So that entire explanation was a waste of time.

Explain yourself. Actually dont waste your time
You went on and on about your credibility, only to end with, “But none of that matters in this case, I’m pulling it out of my arse.”

Quincy is averaging 25/30 minutes if I’m not mistaken

Try hooked on phonics. Read comprehend. You can do it.

Would like to see Crouse, or one of the dealerships step up and get a deal with this kid. If nobody in Syracuse does a deal with him i think we can pretty much put a fork in SU being even a minor player in NIL.

If only we had a metal recycling company locally that was also an SU fan that would put him on the side of their trucks. Just thinking outside the box. I know there’s no successful businesses in the Syracuse area.

Hopefully this puts an end to it, he is going to shatter all of their records and go down as the best RB in Cuse history. I have no idea what he’ll do in the NFL, but if we’re looking at just CFB stats, he’s the guy. We’re witnessing history.

Glad we won’t have to listen to Floyd Little’s widow about this any longer.
I don’t understand why we have to ask family members their perspective about providing the number 44 to a great running back like Tucker. If we ask anyone it should be living players that wore the number if they object.

Does this mean we will have to ask Tucker’s father’s second cousin five years from now if we can assign a running back number 34 if for some asinine reason it gets retired.

he’s one of my favorites, all time. And I do believe we’ve got a core nucleus if it sticks…

But play devil’s advocate for just a moment in regards to the portal… it’s a real concern.

That means nothing in regards to Sean’s thoughts, which I don’t know one iota about.

But if Oklahoma/Texas/Auburn/whoever big name texted you, and said hey what’s up, 80k coming this weekend, you’ll be our bell cow, ps check out our NLI opportunities and draft history… how would you respond at 20 years old?

Can someone please email this to ADJW? When put in this perspective it makes John look like a pretty dysfunctional leader. Maybe he needs to be reminded of the negative fallout which may in fact already be in motion.

Crouse isn’t going to do it, so maybe a car dealer.

I don't think 44 means as much to these kids as we may think it does. In todays social media driven world, it's all about "your brand." It makes sense he'd want to make a name for himself with his own number. I'm in my mid 30's and have all the 44 merch littering my mancave, but the only one I can really remember wearing the number is Konrad. Thats 4-5 years before these kids were even born.

It does bother me that he seems to have changed his tune on the number in the last few months. I don't think that happened after some deep thought...but because of what's transpired on the field and behind closed doors during that time.

Hopefully we're just overreacting...

Transferring to Alabama where he'll run for over 2000 yards next season and win the Heisman in a landslide (all while still wearing #34).
Oh no, he'll wear 44 just to twist the knife... and I'd completely understand if that happened.
