Uconn really is getting screwed in this whole deal

If you think FL St would turn down B1G or SEC, I strongly disagree. The Big12 with TX and OK plays football at a completely different level than the ACC and I think that would be attractive to Fl St as well. Clemson would probably come along.

There is a perception with FL St fans that the league is so weak it hurts them. Adding Pitt, UofL and SU isn't exactly going to change that.

If FL St leaves, all bets are off.

FSU would take an SEC invite in a heartbeat...but that invite is never coming. I'm sure the Big 12 offer has been on the table for quite some time now, but the ACC is just a better place for them it's silly to think otherwise.

There is a perception with FL St fans that the league is so weak it hurts them.

That's why fans are just fans.

Keep praying.

And the voted against the exit fees because they love MD.

So, your position is that re-alignment is over. Fine.

We'll see.

With no BET for storz you have nothing better to do than join WVU fans in your ACC snuff porn fantasies.

Take it easy on lil'huskeroo he's just butthurt because UConn sucks and has zero relevance. It's hard not to be wanted by anyone but the American Sucky Conference :rolling:

ACC has lost a team to the B1G (could also be vulnerable to the SEC, but it hasn't happened in the realignment era).

B12 has lost teams to the B1G, SEC, and PAC12 (not to mention the pending Oklahoma exit).

If it comes down to a death match between the two, the next defection could start a frenzy. Which one has alot more fronts to defend?

From Sports Illustrated today:

"ll five major conference commissioners privately acknowledge that realignment isn't done. And the next logical evolution will inevitably be a poaching of the ACC.

When will this happen? That's the biggest question among athletic directors and TV executives right now. No one knows the answer. But this much is certain -- there's nothing that's happened in the last three years that suggests that realignment will just stop. Will Jim Delany expand the Big Ten this spring with North Carolina and Virginia? Will Mike Slive pull the trigger first and nab N.C. State or Virginia Tech? Will the Big 12 make a power play for Florida State or Clemson? Who makes the first move? Rest assured that even the most deep-rooted ACC schools have contingency plans in case the league gets poached."

This is where this scheme ends...If the PAC 12 expands it goes to the Big 12, and ACC schools aren't going to the Big 12. And UVa / UNC are happy where they are. And the SEC makes a ton of cash and VT won't make life harder on themselves.

But it's ok, when Memphis and UConn clash, you can throw out the records...

Fl State to the b1g. They are ranked higher than Nebraska & are a warm weather team. Clemson would come too, I imagine.

From there, does UNC re-evaluate? Go to the SEC with Virginia?

I don't see the ACC as stable in this situation unless you think re-alignment is completely over.

If there is going to be more moves by the B1G or SEC, I expect the ACC will be poached.

This is what desperation smells like.

Jay Cutler, Marsh, and I feel the same way about UConn.

Yeah, I know. We read the exact same nonsense last summer, courtesy of the WVU kooks. Who are now whining about all of the travel they must undertake as a member of the Big 12.

JJust because S.I. prints it, does not mean it is true. Maryland made the jump because they were flat ass broke. They spent themselves into a $30M hole, with one of the most apathetic fanbases in all of college sports. Nobody else in the ACC is in that kind of dire straits.

Well, duh. All of the ACC schools have contingency plans for the worst case scenarios. Thats a real shocker.

Have you ever lived in NC or VA? If not, you have no idea whatsoever about how much the ACC means there. Not to mention, neither of the pair of UNC-NCSU or UVA-VPI can just up and take off to another league without the State Assemblys or their BOGs getting involved. None of those four schools will be the first to leave the ACC. UNC will not go without UVA, and, vice-versa. And, both of them have committed to staying. Plus, NCSU has no options until Carolina makes their decision. Because Mike Slive wants them in the SEC, too.

So, unless FSU and/or Clemson decide to jump to the Big 12 first, those schools aren't going anywhere. You can probably add Georgia Tech and Miami to that list. Hell, even Clemson's football coach has said that moving to the Big 12 would be a huge mistake for Clemson's athletic program. Their recruits told them they had no desire to play in a southwestern based league. Absent an out of the blue invite from the SEC, FSU isn't going anywhere, either.

Stop and think for just a minute...do you really think that Maryland Rutgers were Jim Delany's FIRST choices? Really? If you do, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona I want to sell you.

If the Big 10 could've gotten UNC-UVA, they'd have made the jump already.

I'm in Charlotte and the idea that UNC is contemplating a serious move to another conference is laughable. As the weeks and months go by, slowly this situation continues to play out. Regardless of the dynamics, I just can't see UNC, Duke, UVA, NCState, or any of the ACC schols making a move. Clemson, FSU, and GT have repeatedly said NO, and the SEC isn't gonna double up in any states.
An ACC Doomsday scenario just doesn't seem logical right now, and the folks in this part of the country would revolt if that possibility actually occurred. You'd have to live here to understand that it's not just about the $$$, there's cultural identity and pride at stake as well.

Yes, just like the next "logical" step for the B1G was taking Rutgirls and UMD. Everyone saw that coming, not! It still makes no sense to me.

Why would 2 schools with athletic budgets of 50-70 miillion dollars want to step into the ring with heavyweights Michigan 120+ million and OSU 140+ million? They both already spend beyond their means with no success and now will have to spend more and will still get pounded.

The ACC is not the old ACC. With SU, BCU, Pitt, UofL etc. its a different conference.

I don't think UNC would be the first domino to fall but would move if other dominos started to fall.

As for UCONN, it might be best if the ACC stands pat. I don't think the B1G or the SEC is done. I would rather UCONN end up in either than a wounded ACC.

LOL--talk about sour grapes! Sounds like the only thing "wounded" is the uconn fanbases' feelings. But I suppose that is to be expected when you're unwanted, on the oustide of big boy conference expansion looking in.

Have fun in the revamped CUSA.

I work with a UNC booster from Raleigh. He's always talking about "sources" but honestly, I have no idea whether has reliable source. However, with that said, he says that UNC has talked to the Big 10 and it's possible they could go. He said they will do what is needed and are in a good spot having choices. He's very serious about it and while he doesn't say it's probable, he does say it is not out of the question. In the past, he gave me very accurate predictions of what would happen with ND and the ACC...well before it was being discussed by most others.

Whenever you're having a bad day, or maybe SU loses a game and you're upset. Just come back to this thread and read sdhusky's posts about the ACC falling apart. Then think "what if all I had left was to root for that?"

You'll feel better instantly.

And you won't feel bad for UConn anymore.

Oh, I'm not saying never say never- just that the ease with which others describe it happening, are extremely unlikely.
UNC would HAVE to be in a Titanic-like situation to bolt the ACC, and it certainly wouldn't be to the Big12.
The B1G is also 2nd choice, with the SEC being the one that ACC fans should worry about.
Also, note that UNC has had an invite from the B1G for 11 years now- it was only when the WVU Jihad Posse got ahold of that news that the twitterverse
went nuts. "Old news", indeed.

I am just telling what I heard from a UNC booster back in Nov. No biggy to me if you don't agree it is of value. However, this same guy told me in the early summer months that ND would be joining the ACC and called me on Sept. 12 saying "I told you so". I prefaced my first note on this with a disclaimer so it is what it is. Could be total guessing, rumor or actual inside information... just like a lot of stuff here ;)

Did you really just write a statement that describes the potential of Uconn ending up in the SEC?
