The NCAA is in a pickle. If UNC gets what amounts to a wrist slap in the current environment (FBI investigation, precedents set in other cases) I guarantee you there will be people out there (like Pitino) that will make holy hell for the NCAA. For this reason, I don't think UNC gets off light. MBB will get hit with something, as will Williams. Might not be a lot, but I don't think they skate. The ruling could surprise everyone. I think McCants' admissions will carry more weight than people think. Also, can you imagine all the bogus majors popping up around the country if the NCAA doesn't take a stance?

As far as SU or JB suing over the lost wins, I am of the belief that he will get them back at some point, just like PED State did. I don't think it's worth it to JB to fight that fight right now. He has 5 years left and wants to coach Buddy in relative peace and quiet. You can only go through that NCAA pressure cooker for so long. Besides, he knows who won those games.

If I were the NCAA, I would hammer them. Just because I can and because I know UNC will not pay attention and probably slither out of it with some legal loophole. If they hammer them and UNC slithers out, at least they can say 'Welp, we tried America'.

If they are seen coming off is light here they will never be able to control any institution ever again and that includes telling kids they can't sell their likeness on youtube...

Penalties will be serious. Skeptics refer to the 'wheelhouse' comment. It is factually correct that they have no jurisdiction regarding course validity. However, now that the courses have been decertified the outcome is a foregone conclusion. A lot of people are going to be surprised.

I sure hope so. The NCAA has seemed like a GD double standard for as long as I have been paying attention.

I read two different Tar Heel boards. About 20% of them think they are innocent and there will be no meaningful penalties. The majority expect to be hammered. Why 5 star Little signed is beyond me. Chew on this; they now have the number one rated class. I should add that they all feel certain that they will go to court and win.

No one has signed yet. Can't until November. If penalties were to come down in the meantime, I wonder if UNC could be Rutgerized (decommits).

WOW! That's a very powerful letter, written by Congressman Katko, implying inconsistent penalties by the NCAA and harsh treatment of Syracuse. I think UNC is going to get hit hard, and they should!

He gave a verbal a day before the previously scheduled penalties. Sounds suspicious or crazy. He could have verballed earlier or later, but why do it a day before? Roy must be telling recruits, "what me worry" and bank on it.

Roy is a dishonest creep, deliberately misleading. He has no idea what the penalties will be and he could care less about the kids. It's the Carolina Way. I suppose it could argued that if the kid is too stupid to figure things out, so be it. But, he is just a kid, and Roy is a respected coach. We were all once dumb kids.

Love Roy's quote, “It’s not necessarily an athletic thing.” If it isn't an athletic thing why would the NCAA be investigating? - duh. A decades old bogus department created to benefit athletes is not an athletic problem?

We are so lucky to have a straight shooter, JB.

There is a very good reason why UNC poached Roy from Kansas...he loves to cheat the Carolina way.

And I am very sure Roy knew all about their Academic program long before he took that job. Not everything is a secret amongst college coaches.
