Roberto Martinez is coaching Belgium.Trying to think of some names for replacements for Arena and it's impossible to know what our budget will be but I have to imagine that will hold us back.
David Wagner would be a nice get depending on how long Huddersfield stays up. Have to think that if they're relegated this year he'd listen. A guy like Roberto Martinez would come in with instant credibility and a system. And then you have a slew of young coaches doing well in the MLS who I think can truly coach. Picking based on system alone, I'd love to see a Jesse Marsch come in with his high press and get after these less talented teams instead of allowing them to control possession against us. The whole setup needs and overhaul, though.
Completely forgot he took over Belgium. Good call. And that was one of the first names that popped into my head too.Roberto Martinez is coaching Belgium.
No way he leaves that job with all their talent.
Knowing US soccer they go after somebody like Caleb Porter.
Toronto is the best MLS team. They wouldn’t win the Championship division in England.
It’s not a world class league.
Pirlo, Villa, Lampard, Gerrard, Cole use the MLS as a retirement league.
The sport plays off the world calendar. No MLS squad can win the CONCACAF champions league.
Our players coming back to the MLS over playing in Europe hires US soccer.
People who support the MLS hurt soccer in America more than those who laugh at it
There is not a lack of good young Americans but we need to have a coach with a system and the patience to go through some growing pains. Losing John Brooks really hurt us during the hex and he should lock down half of the CB position going forward. Excited about Cameron Carter-Vickers or Matt Miazga's potential to be the one to pair with him. Weston McKennie has been mentioned but he could be another Jermaine Jones-type player (who we actually get in his true prime) to dominate as a CDM. Also really want to see more of Danny Williams in a US uniform. There are a few decent attacking midfield options like Emerson Hyndman, Lynden Gooch, and Josh Sargent. I'm worried about the future of the GK position and left back, but hopefully Fabian Johnson doesn't quit the team like he's hinted at.
Giovinco is the best player on Toronto and in the MLS.Obviously it's not the Bundesliga. But people like you cry about the quality of the league and completely dismiss it, yet that's where 90% of our players develop there.
You will moan about the development of our teams, but I guarantee you don't turn on the games. You don't support the domestic league. You only know big names (half of whom ride the pine). If you want the US to succeed go watch Tyler Adams or James Sands play next year. Invest in the domestic product because without the MLS our team in the last ten years is Christian Pulisic and dual citizen Germans.
You spout the same tired BS that most snobby soccer fans do. Pirlo rarely plays, Villa played for Spain last break, Lampard was fantastic his last year in NYC (after starting about a dozen games for Man City). You'd know that if you watched.
I can almost guarantee you made that TFC statement without knowing much about the team beyond their big 3, but you'll bash the league anyway.
It's a tired argument and youre making it with an uninformed point of view.
By the way, the teams that just kept us out of the World Cup? Lots of MLS players on their rosters -- why didn't they fail terribly?
We should all be rooting for Alex Bono to keep developing. How cool would it be to have a 'Cuse guy as the USMNT keeper?Horvath will be our next keeper but Bruce can't even call him in. We have rimando instead. LMFAO.
Bruce admitted in his post game presser that the squad would have been overhauled going into the World Cup which basically means there are better players out there. Why not integrate some in the gold cup? Oh wait we played old NT retreads like Beasley, Bedoya, and Zusi
Wondo was freaking recalled again.Horvath will be our next keeper but Bruce can't even call him in. We have rimando instead. LMFAO.

That's what I was getting at.The US was never winning this WC and this miss isn’t about that.
It’s about growing the brand.
Not making the WC kills momentum.
The US Soccer infrastructure needs to be blown up now.
That's not even close. Wow.FIFA/CONCACAF have to look at this.
Disaster: One of the goals that eliminated USA from the World Cup never went in
USA should protest.
Giovinco is the best player on Toronto and in the MLS.
The academies in the MLS aren’t developing that much talent.
Do MLS teams even fly charter yet?
The teams used to fly commercial not long ago.
The league isn’t good. It’s not the Dutch league or Portuguese league.
I know more about the MLS than I wish I did. Get on the world calendar and get rid of the Salary cap.
I watch the Sunday games on national TV.So here are the things you know about the league:
1 - It keeps cost low to keep the league competitive
2 - It doesn't force teams to play in New York, Chicago, or Boston in the winter
3 - You don't know who the best player in the league is.
Most people would say Villa, Elmiron, or Martinez are easily the best players in the league right now. Before Gio even went out, Villa was head and shoulders above him this year.
Again, I doubt you watch the league, but you're happy to complain about it to make it sound like you know what you're talking about. You also seem to know a lot about the English Championship too -- nice job pretending to be an expert on leagues you definitely don't watch.
You don't know more than you just Googled.
If CONCACAF had any guts something would happen. That's not even close. Wow.
If CONCACAF had any guts something would happen.
I mean the ball is nowhere close to completely over the line.
I watch the Sunday games on national TV.
I would say Hedges is better than Elmiron or Martinez.
Take a winter break like leagues in Europe do. The fact the league plays in the summer hurts the quality just as much as playing in Cold.
The league doesn’t have scheduling done correctly. It’s just not a league I would prefer the national team selects a majority of its talent from.
Don't think the great atmospheric as any impact on the player quality
FIFA/CONCACAF have to look at this.

LMAO. Ah, yes, those who invest in domestic teams, who are bound by the league to invest in domestic talent are hurting the domestic national team. It must be difficult for you to choose to wear your Ronaldo, Messi or Neymar jersey in the morning.People who support the MLS hurt soccer in America more than those who laugh at it
