VaTech Gametime: Noon on The CW

Might happen. I had a similar weekend this weekend. Friday night at Duffs in Buffalo eating wings and watching the Yanks win the Pennant and then Bills game yesterday in awesome weather.

One of my favorite days ever was Oct 26, 1996, in Boston. SU crushes BC at Alumni Stadium, we head over to Cityside to watch the Yankees beat the Braves in game 6 for World Series win.

You've gone from it disrupts homecoming to people can't eat dinner.

I really really really hope it's 3:30 so we can see what else you will come up with in the next 10 days.

The ability to early vote is impacted
Last minute pumpkin patch trip delayed
Second lunch is completely shot
College kids might have to be for most of the day versus just a noon wake and bake
People will have to drive home in the dark, hopefully headlights get invented

a someone who has had to deal with scheduling crap around homecoming on a college campus, 3:30 games are a huge deal when large parts of crowds are not normal game day attendants.

3:30 is great for tailgates and such but the other 80% its a pain unless you travel 2-3 hrs.

3:30 means getting out of the game 7-8 to get anywhere around town and homecoming people want mor normalized eating habits. And yea I know its also probably a few K of people given the new seating stuff

The school has a ton of volunteer work as well during the weekend and 3:30 game works against that as well.

Well the ACC put it in SU and Tech's hands. Assume if both win were getting a later kick. One wins up in the air, both lose hello Noon and Upperdecks wet dream.

3:30 pm would be ideal, speaking for my own opinion that is... plenty of Busch Lattes to be had prior to game time! and the wife would be happy, as she wouldn't have to set an alarm for a Saturday morning! Happy Wife, Happy Life! and I get hammered on B-Lattes! HA!
My man

Not my dream.

I am just not so tailgate biased.

No kids left in sports to schedule around. I would love 9am games and be home to watch 20 on tV.

Fall 8PM games are fine with me, mostly good weather for the midnight drive. But I only have 60+ min to go.

I was at my cousin's wedding that night. She insisted that there would be TV's at the reception and there were none. I had to listen on the radio. Ironically, I was at Duffs Saturday night with her and her husband. Cannot believe that night was 28 years ago.

If I remember correctly didn't we go down 7-0 early due to something weird like a blocked field goal return? And then just blew their doors off from that point on.

Tailgate or not, every game at Noon is a downer and a loss of $ for local businesses and SU. I assume you meant your kids games at 9am which makes sense but 3:30 and night games are the optimal college football game times.

Pitt SMU, Miami Duke, Clemson Lville all have more juice

Why do noon games lose money?

Stats don't show much variance in attendance from game time. Opp/Hype matters more.

I remember the 9am kids sports and rushing when done to get to the Dome

Sure 9am Dome games would kill the crowd

we have had six 3:30 games the last 4 years several 32k and a 49K and two 38K ish
we have had 7 noon games the last 4 years 49K, two 41-43K games, two 37-39K and a 30k, 35K

attendance is a wash, but actually better for the noon games.

crowd energy perhaps was muted

kids leaving for dinner for the 330 games was an issue? Did SU fix that this year?

maybe bars do better for certain times? Dont know about food. But people are more likely to get out at 4 and go eat than get out at 8 and go eat locally aren't they?

The answer to most crucial issues is DOME DOGS. :)

It's a different story if you have an 80-90 minute transit and a couple teens to drag out of bed at 7-something for the privilege of trying to access the parking lot (that you paid for) where your tail gate is located.

Does any one know what time slots have been taken so far? What’s available

I won’t be shocked to see a 7 day hold here.

If we beat Pitt, I could see the ACCN wanting us for the 8pm game against VT and bringing ACC Huddle to campus as we are one of the few they haven’t gone to yet.
I'm pretty sure this is part for the hold. It is a 6 day hold now from what I read. They want to see the Pitt SU outcome and the VT-GT outcome especially because of the Stanford game with SU. The two games will be the deciding factor overall. Honestly I prefer 3:30 or late afternoon games as it gives plenty of time there and back for travel, as well as game day fun. Noon gets the early morning 'can't get up' late night = I can't drive home which I think most would prefer over the Noon. I like mid afternoon it nice out (usually weather wise) and it make it an easier day travel planning in NYS.
