Sounds like they may be itching for ESPN/ABC depending on the gameplay this week. My guess is PITT/SMU Noon as it is more likely matchup but it depends on the SU/PITT this week for the noon spot. I'm guessing VT/SU will be 3:30
You eat all day before going to the game on those times. Midday I don't know about you I go home and crash after and eat/drink there not at a bar... Usually the party is over by then. Yeah maybe more money in the dome, but you can't have a lengthy pregame at local establishments with a noon game. Why do noon games lose money?
Stats don't show much variance in attendance from game time. Opp/Hype matters more.
I remember the 9am kids sports and rushing when done to get to the Dome
Sure 9am Dome games would kill the crowd
we have had six 3:30 games the last 4 years several 32k and a 49K and two 38K ish
we have had 7 noon games the last 4 years 49K, two 41-43K games, two 37-39K and a 30k, 35K
attendance is a wash, but actually better for the noon games.
crowd energy perhaps was muted
kids leaving for dinner for the 330 games was an issue? Did SU fix that this year?
maybe bars do better for certain times? Dont know about food. But people are more likely to get out at 4 and go eat than get out at 8 and go eat locally aren't they?
I'm pretty sure this is part for the hold. It is a 6 day hold now from what I read. They want to see the Pitt SU outcome and the VT-GT outcome especially because of the Stanford game with SU. The two games will be the deciding factor overall. Honestly I prefer 3:30 or late afternoon games as it gives plenty of time there and back for travel, as well as game day fun. Noon gets the early morning 'can't get up' late night = I can't drive home which I think most would prefer over the Noon. I like mid afternoon it nice out (usually weather wise) and it make it an easier day travel planning in NYS.
Thats true. I sorta don't mind the 8pm. I just hate the noon for the cold mornings this time of year is all, but the tailgate breakfast sandwiches are the bomb.An 8pm against VT in the Dome, on ACCN would be pretty sweet because it would mean ACC Huddle at Cuse.
I could also see if both us and VT win this week that we get the noon ABC slot.
I think we will either be 8pm or noon looking at the open slots available
Especially with that 3:30 slot becoming the old school noon spot.
All the big games are usually either noon or prime time
Usually tailgate...I get that, but how many people are doing pre-game stuff? How many go eat before a 330 game around town? I have eaten after games but never before a game. maybe those around the game area are,
Unfortunately I'm at the stage in life where 8 is not a good time. Night driving with the LED white lights is blinding at 78.Sounds like they may be itching for ESPN/ABC depending on the gameplay this week. This really should be your avatar..And a 330 game means people don't get to eat dinner.
I know what you mean. It's not good for me either with two eyes that dilate differently along with progressives...Unfortunately I'm at the stage in life where 8 is not a good time. Night driving with the LED white lights is blinding at 78.
Especially the trucks that have the fog lights underneath the regular lights.

So am I reading this right? 6 ACC games. 3 will be at noon, 1 will be at 3:30, 1 will be at 7:30, 1 will be at 8 pm?
My bets:
Noon CW: Stanford @ NC State
Noon ACCN: UNC @ FSU
Noon ABC: Louisville @ Clemson
3:30 ACCN: Virginia Tech @ Syracuse
7:30 ABC/ESPN: Pitt @ SMU
8:00 ACCN: Duke @ Miami
I agree... although SMU/PIT may be noon or vice/versa Miami game might be split up to have it a long day thing. If I were networks I'd make SMU/PITT, VT/SYR, Duke/Miami be the Noon/3:30/8, and probably throw the Stanford/NC State and Louisville/Clemson in the noon/7:30 slots.Hmmmm I actually think that looks pretty good

LED lights are the worst, worse than high beams.Unfortunately I'm at the stage in life where 8 is not a good time. Night driving with the LED white lights is blinding at 78.

Makes sense that I would win this bet because there's no money riding on it.

Man, theads like this help me appreciate my luck. My 16 year old twin boys literally spring out of bed at 5 am for noon games and we are tailgaiting by 7. At the latest. And thats after travelling the night before a game as we live 4 hours away. For 8 pm kickoffs, theyre also up early so we can drive down day of game and tailgate by noon or 1. I guess I taught them something right. It's a different story if you have an 80-90 minute transit and a couple teens to drag out of bed at 7-something for the privilege of trying to access the parking lot (that you paid for) where your tail gate is located.
That looks good.
My ranking of the games is:
This aligns well with Chip's expected game times.
- Duke at Miami (FL)
- Louisville at Clemson
- Pitt at SMU
- Virginia Tech at Syracuse
- Stanford at NC State
- North Carolina at Florida State
This would be my preferred game time <knock on wood>, and means that I'd be able to attend the tailgate.
Where do you travel from?Man, theads like this help me appreciate my luck. My 16 year old twin boys literally spring out of bed at 5 am for noon games and we are tailgaiting by 7. At the latest.
