Vince Kehres: New DC

I get it, but what level of talent was he working with?
I didn't look at recruiting rankings, but Toledo had 3 first team All-MAC DBs (including a projected 1st rounder), 1 2nd team DB, 1 1st team LB and 1 3rd team LB, 1 2nd team DL and 2 3rd team DL.

As for talent, Toledo typically recruited the best in the MAC, so I would say Toledo had a talent advantage over their opponents with the exception of a couple of OOC opponents.

I turned it on with about 7 minutes left in the 4th. Just in time to see them getting gashed by the run. In the words of Ralphie, "OH, FUDGE!"

I kid. It's a meaningless bowl. But we had enough of that rhis year.

They gave up 330 yards total, our D would have given that up in the first half

This was a REALLY good breakdown. Cody Alexander was impressive.

I'm even more hyped by what Kehres is going to bring to the D.

I'm also a fan of Tim Leonard's interview style.
Cody puts out a ton of great stuff on Twitter, def recommend following to anyone who’s on that app. Very informative and educational.

Will we have the pieces to run the D?

Would love to find visuals to explain the concept even more

Sounds like more stunts and less contain on the Dline

More stunts and less contain works for me. I prefer blitzing and forcing QBs to make quick decisions so it'll take some getting used to but even just stunting will force OL to move their feet and keeping them guessing and over thinking what's coming next. It's simply not hard to block straight ahead rushers. Stunting puts more pressure on them.

Basically he's going to do everything that other teams did to stop us but we were too lazy to implement.

We currently have a far worse roster than Toledo despite having significantly more money.

Right now at this moment false
All of Toledo's good place left for the portal, they don't have much of anything left...
I'll clarify. Both 2025 and 2026 Syracuse have a far worse roster than Toledo did in 2025.

Toledo was #56 Sagarin, Syracuse #103.

Are you guys forgetting which school had their worst loss in 100 years and got absolutely rolled by 1-10 Boston College? It wasn't Toledo. If the roster was so good why did it absolutely fall apart without Angeli? Teams with good rosters can play defense and run the football, we do neither of those.

All credit to Fran for 2024, he took what was an unspectacular, but very efficient (resource/money wise) roster from Dino and found the resources to elevate it. But he's 0/1 on building his own roster and trending towards 0/2.
