As I reflect on the past month I go back to what Juli said that Jim would have retired already but did not want to leave the program in a mess. In my mind Jim believes in 3 years the program will be "whole" again. Consider the following:

-Pre NC State game Jim alluded to major changes

-Many didn't seem surprised on McCullough news, I'm sure Jim wasn't.

-Given loss of CM we could have used BJ in the future. As we couldn't redshirt him next year we did what was best for BJ and gave him his release.

-Jim knew Ron wasn't a fit and alluded to it in the press all year.

-Since we were at 10 we backed off TB and let the kid play it out and make his own decision.

All that being said I believe Jim is content going with 10 and starting the restrictions. He and we all hope that the appeal reduces the ultimate sanctions and leaves the program in a position of strength upon his retirement.

We have all heard a lot about Jim and the program being selfish by self imposing the ban, etc. Consider for a second that getting the program back to full strength is more important to him than a short term run at another ring.

The Boeheims are quality people and we should focus on what they say and trust them.

With G at the 3, Richardson from what I hear able to play the 3, Lydon able to play the three and us locking up Moyer, BJ would have seen the floor probably even less than he did this year. It was for the best that he moved on from here but the use of him in the future would have been minimal, if it wasn't he wouldn't have transferred and I'm sure the coaches told him that.

Being at 10 had nothing to do with backing off TB. He didn't want to be here.

You keep saying that but it gives a false truth. He didn't want to be here because he wanted to get away from his mother. Not because of the coaches, the players or the program. Reverse it and move his mother to Indiana and he's wearing orange.

What about when he said we had a 5th recruit commitment for this year? I kid, I kid

I don't know the kid and I don't think you do either. I will not give a motive for something I don't know. For all I know, being close to his mother was the one reason he thought about Syracuse (I doubt that) the only thing I know for sure, and it is for sure, is that he didn't want to come to syracuse and used numerous reasons to back that up. It may have indeed been getting away from his mom. However, I never heard him use that as a reason.

Until he picked Indiana, you must not have known his intentions either because you didn't know the kid or his feelings either.

There was an Orangeyes article a couple of days ago, where Jimmy was talking about retiring after next season. Surprised that didn't get alot more play.

Do you remember which day that was?

I didn't see that

actually, I told friends, that are posters on this board, a story about Tb and his relationship with Syracuse the night before he gave his verbal to Indy. He didn't want to come here. Was it to get away from mom? I didn't think Rochester was all that close to Syracuse. And I think there might be some spin from the Orange on losing a upstate NY kid.

the only thing we know for 100% certain, since we both don't know the kid, is that he didn't want to come to syracuse. And that is what i said.

If his mother was the problem all along then why didn't we make her a relocation offer she couldn't refuse?

Not a retirement statement, but JB supposedly said he would coach next season but had no plans after that.

Orange Watch Exclusive: SU Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim to Retire in September 2016 (sujuiceonline.com; Bierman)

Item: Nearly two weeks after his Carrier Dome press conference in which he reiterated his “intent” to step down after three more seasons coaching Syracuse basketball, Orange Watch has learned from various sources close to the Syracuse Hall of Famer that his timetable has him coaching only one more collegiate season, then the 2016 Summer Olympics, before hanging up the whistle for good and handing the reigns over to Mike Hopkins just prior to preseason practice in late Sept. 2016.

Whenever we hear the word “intent” or “intention” in relation to someone in a powerful position in life explaining their plans moving forward, we’re always dubious about the complete truthfulness in that individual’s statement, acknowledging the fact that the person believes firmly in what they’re saying at that moment.

It was with that suspicion when Jim Boeheim answered a media member’s question at his hour long March 19 Dome session about his future, confirming he would coach next season, but, “beyond that, I have no plans,” he made clear, reiterating he didn’t think he’d still be coaching at age 70, adding, “(three years) is a long time.”

TB had some bad insight along the way. He didn't want to come and made up any reason possible even if it didn't make sense. Dasher is right .

Of course he made up reasons.

Kind of an interesting reverse recruiting tactic...instead of buying the mom a house in the city where the university is, buy her one in a location at least 1000 miles away.

Yeah but the REASON was asinine.

Who cares what the reason is? We can't force a kid to play here if he doesn't want to. Good luck to him at IU.

So you don't advocate recruiting at gunpoint? I'm just kidding everyone...

Sometimes being the school close to home works for you...sometimes it doesn't. Every case is different. (Makes you wonder how far away from Mom is far enough).

I never said anything other than the reason being asinine . Knowing the real reason, it makes a ton of sense the staff stopped recruiting him.
