Well we made the front page of ESPN at least

The idea that the team would have a record of 17-5 if... is a direct shot at JB’s knowledge and ability to develop and coach players. You’re damn right he’s going to react negatively to anyone prognosticating this alternate reality - the man has pride (and a hall of fame membership).

By the way, I believe he said he didn’t read the tweet, but it was read, quoted or translated to him by his son. If he didn’t actually read it, is it possible that, even as bad as the actual tweet was, it was exaggerated a bit in the translation? Something like: “MG says we’d be undefeated if you played Kadary and Jesse more”. I might have done that to my dad if I was 20 just to mess with him a little.

I can’t defend the shot at someone’s height - it was unnecessary, but JB is who he is. Btw, after the translation, I picture him like:

He just couldn’t let it go.

For the 10th time. The recruits/parents do not care. You think they care about Matthew Gutierrez ? You think they even know who he is ?

They don't care. Has no impact on recruiting. Our recruiting has suffered by some misses, Hopkins leaving, and GMAC being kept on the recruiting trail.
Yeah but embarassing specific players by name in press conferences can certainly be used against him recruiting, and he has been doing that for too long
Point is, JB needs a Comms rep, or somebody who preps politicians for debates to change his tone and demeanor in these public press conferences or else hes gonna push it too far and it will cost him

Savvy follow-up would've been "Bernie Fine was short and never played; seems weird you'd have let him fill a staff position for so many decades."
Can you even imagine the outcome of that follow up? I would gladly pay money to see how that would go.

Lol all u adults getting mad over this is funny asf

it’s a non story and it’s actually hilarious, maybe my generation isn’t as soft as people say..?

This stuff was nauseating when we were good.

The only defense of JB is the reporter couldn't have been more accurate.

The ACC was down big time this year and we had a lot of returning experience and good newcomers better than the crap that transfered out and JB blew it with his boneheaded 6 man rotation.

Love it..keep putting people in their place Jimmy. Bunch of softies in this world. Need more Boeheims around

Last time we were relevant to the greater basketball world beyond being a bubble team was making a final four in 2016. Whatever side of this you stand on, we need to win games and start being relevant again. A tit for tat with a local reporter doesn't accomplish anything whether it was right or wrong (by either party here).

We need to make the tourney this year and spit fire next year. Otherwise it's more evidence that the program has fallen a ton and no amount of pandering to old loyalties or bashing people who are frustrated with the results is going to change the reality. Let's face it, the confrontation of those who criticize is just as much a coping mechanism for program struggles as is the criticism itself.

The tournament is a bonus this year.

There are only 6 teams that could win it all.
Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan, Illinois, West Virginia or Alabama.

Other teams could get to the Final Four but the top of college basketball this season has separation. A team like Iowa should be on that list but they will lose a game.

Making the tournament is a good job but we need to actually use our resources and be better. Compete for conference titles, double byes, top 4 seeds.

Gotta love millionaire bullies who make their money off of unpaid labor punching down on a guy asking questions that we all talk about every day on this board. Jimmy B is so tough!

there’s more to this story that you don’t know. If you had some kid taking jabs at you after every loss or every coaching decision you make..how would you feel? Guys got every right to put this kid in his place.

Ask Etan Thomas if he appreciated his HC saying he wasn’t ready to play publicly during his freshman year.
Should Etan have been able to put JB in his place if he was wrong?

Etan had a lot of time to think about that during that Georgetown game his freshman year when he fouled out in 8 minutes. Just looked it up. He averaged 2.3 fouls per game playing 16 minutes. Don't think JB was wrong there.

At 5.8 fouls per 40, he could do better. If he really wanted a statistic, he should have targeted the 7.6 fouls per 40 that Bourama had over his career here, including an absolutely astonishing 9.3 as a soph (inflated, slightly due to playing only 10mpg).

Read Etan’s latest article.

Basketball is not rocket science. Please stop acting like there are secret algorithms that only the old and experienced have access to. I am so tired of this crap. First Bilas didn’t know what he was talking about and now this reporter. Seriously man take a chill pill already. There is no way that this sort of behavior should be tolerated by any institution of higher learning. It would be nice if the University would step up and publicly condemn this behavior. Be better. Take the high road.
Come on man, we all know that Bilas is too short and never played... wait. Ok fine, but he isn't very smart. If was he'd have a degree from a respected school and would've gone on to be something like a lawyer... ummm... wait again.

Well, I think Etan turned out ok. He made a lot of money in the NBA. I think he’s the only player at SU that fouled out in the first half. He wasn’t ready to play when he arrived.

Nobody does. Only sensitive people. Got the guy his 15 minutes. Some of you would never be able to handle Bob Knight if you can't handle JB.
Why should we or anyone else have to deal with a @sshole like Bob Knight. Another bully. Why don't you call Jb tonight and ask him why he hired a small man, Bernie Fine, who never played college ball or probably high school ball? What could he possible know? And while you are at it, ask Jb if he ever saw a movie and said that movie sucked? Has Jb ever directed a movie? How can he say a movie is bad? It's a pathetic take by a insecure old man. He has to know that Matt is correct. Jesse and Kadray should have played more. Period.

There is a difference in being able to play a lot of minutes and not being able to play at all.

Any player on our team should be able to play 10 minutes if they had too.
Brandon Baier a walk-on who never played a meaningful minute in his life was able to play 7 minutes in the NCAAT and we won.

JB says what allows him to pushback and the person asking can’t disprove.
It’s part of JB’s intelligence but it doesn’t mean what he says is right.
