Who have we lost that you are worried about losing? Are all these guys entering the portal in the middle of practice? At this rate, I'm hoping we have 22 guys to play the game next week.
Emily mentioned something on Twitter about it being finals week so I’m not sure what the practice schedule is like this week. She did say there’s a presser Sunday at the bowl site. Are all these guys entering the portal in the middle of practice? At this rate, I'm hoping we have 22 guys to play the game next week.
Lowrey, Lockett, Jones, Daniels, Jeffrey, Peterson, anyone else coming in the next few days.Who have we lost that you are worried about losing?
Pro: Maybe the bowl season practice eligibility rules have a vague statement about the timing that could be exploited.I have what is likely a moronic question: Can any of the practices be used AFTER the game...say, within a certain timeframe? Especially given the coaching/staff change and interference (if the NCAA cares) with final exams, I could make a (weak) case for this.
So lowrey and locket? Jones I like but wasn’t available essentially all year anyway. I did notice Barron practicing in a photo put out by the team.Lowrey, Lockett, Jones, Daniels, Jeffrey, Peterson, anyone else coming in the next few days.
Agreed. But with a relatively early bowl game and final exams in the interim, it seems like it could be somewhat difficult to get all the allowed practices scheduled. But, yeah, I doubt it would happen.Pro: Maybe the bowl season practice eligibility rules have a vague statement about the timing that could be exploited.
Con: If teams could practice after their bowl games, the non-bowl teams would've been clamoring to be allowed to have postseason practices.
We're in unchartered waters. Playing a bowl game after a coaching change in the transfer portal era. But I think we'll be fine. Lost 6 so far, plus some others to minor surgeries. But I imagine we'll have 25-30 ready to play on both sides of the ball. Some guys may have to play more snaps than normal, but such is life.
Fair enough. I'm not worried about losing any of them.Lowrey, Lockett, Jones, Daniels, Jeffrey, Peterson, anyone else coming in the next few days.
I'm guessing you did not read my post. Jones is a grad portal guy, so based on what the coaches have publicly stated, he can play in the bowl game.Lowrey, Lockett, Jones, Daniels, Jeffrey, Peterson, anyone else coming in the next few days.
HCFB seems to be everywhere. So lowrey and locket? Jones I like but wasn’t available essentially all year anyway. I did notice Barron practicing in a photo put out by the team.
Wonder if they could practice before the official bowl announcement. Once they became bowl eligible perhaps? Otherwise it is virtually impossible to get a bowl invite the evening of December 3, leave for the bowl on December 17 and get 15 practices while accomodating finals schedules.Agreed. Exactly! If not, this only rewards those in the NY6 bowls or later; or anything else played, let's say, after Christmas.Wonder if they could practice before the official bowl announcement. Great! It’s like an NFL preseason game. Those are always compelling. It's an audition opportunity for all the guys who weren't normally starters, or on the 2-deep.
Thanks for the clarification. Since it says “between the end of the regular season” I will assume that we could continue practicing the week after Wake Forest once we became bowl eligible. It's actually not 15 practices but it still rewards you the later the bowl game is.
"NCAA rules allow bowl teams to practice or hold other athletic activities up to four hours per day or 20 hours per week between the end of the regular season and a bowl game. While coaches often refer to the "15 extra practices" that come with a bowl invitation, there is no specific limit to the number of practices a team can hold during bowl preparation."
If you don't make a bowl:
"Teams that don't reach bowl games are limited to mandatory weight training, conditioning and review of game film between the end of the regular season and Jan. 1. They get a maximum of eight hours per week for those activities, including no more than two hours per week of film viewing."
That's how I interpret it.Thanks for the clarification. Since it says “between the end of the regular season” I will assume that we could continue practicing the week after Wake Forest once we became bowl eligible.
