blue blood?

Was listening to sports talk in Charlotte and they were listing what teams they thought a blue blood would be?

How much does history and then current success play into it?

How do you figure that when they have 3 national championships and have secured reasonable foreseeable future success with jay wright

They’ve never really been a consistent program.

I mean, they went 13-19 in 2012. Before the last 5 years nobody would’ve dreamed of calling them anything more than a top 25-30 or so program historically.

Blue bloods aren’t made in 5 great years.

Otherwise Florida would’ve become one a decade ago.

I guess id put it this way then:

UNC Duke UK
Kansas
Nova
Syracuse Louisville
MSU, Florida
Indiana, UCLA, UofA
Uconn

For the record, Kansas has benefitted tremendously from a historically weak big 12, especially in the 2000s

They have been a good program not a blue blood. They didn't win a whole lot between 85 and when jay took over. They only have been to 4 final fours I believe.

I think Duke, UNC, UK, KU are tier one. MSU, Louisville, SU, AZ, Indiana and UCLA are tier 2. My list is in no particular order.

North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, and maybe the other Kentucky school Louisville. I think the powers that be like to keep it to those 2 states. Maybe add Kansas.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I thinks this makes it clear. If MSU wins a title does this change their standing?

Personally I think they stay in tier2 but on the verge of 1 and with a few more years if they keep it up could be in the 1 tier

Agree with you completely. I think they close the gap but still Tier 2 behind the Big Four. Interesting mix in Tier 2. I place uconn ahead of us because of titles but they have had a lot of mediocre or losing seasons.

I have Nova behind us do to this same reason, but you could make an argument that Titles trump the down years.

Regardless, it seems pretty clear the lines between the tiers in this time period.

Cuse!

On the radio they were making the titles point but I do think losing seasons clearly defines the differences. It shows consistencies. I think wins in the tournament also define the difference. I would love a few more titles for us (for obvious reasons) but I think we could climb into the tier 1 as well.

Just like Syracuse is 1990 Lax champion even if the NCAA stripped it I would give Louisville their title in 2013.

The NCAA is stupid when they vacate wins. Just like JB has 1000+ wins no matter what the NCAA says.
