I think of duke, unc, Ku, uk. It’s less about success level and more about being a protected class
Nova is not a blue blood.Unc, duke, uk, nova, kansas
Nova is not a blue blood.
They are in the next group with us mich st Arizona lville.I’d argue they’re nearer the conversation, if not in, than Indiana and Ucla.
How do you figure that when they have 3 national championships and have secured reasonable foreseeable future success with jay wrightThey are in the next group with us mich st Arizona lville.

They’ve never really been a consistent program.
I mean, they went 13-19 in 2012. Before the last 5 years nobody would’ve dreamed of calling them anything more than a top 25-30 or so program historically.
Blue bloods aren’t made in 5 great years.
Otherwise Florida would’ve become one a decade ago.
They have been a good program not a blue blood. They didn't win a whole lot between 85 and when jay took over. They only have been to 4 final fours I believe. How do you figure that when they have 3 national championships and have secured reasonable foreseeable future success with jay wright
You forgot the Blue Man Group. They play in Los Vegas. In my opinion, and in no particular order: UCLA, Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky. Maybe Indiana.
In the Modern Era (since Tournament expanded in 1985) here are my tiers: If you look before 1985 UCLA and Indiana make some moves up the ladder. Cuse!
Tier 1:
- Duke 34 NCAA bids; 97 Tournament wins; 25 Sweet Sixteen’s; 16 Elite Eights; 12 Final Fours; 5 Titles; 1 losing season
- UNC 32 NCAA bids; 91 Tournament wins; 23 Sweet Sixteen’s; 17 Elite Eights; 11 Final Fours; 4 Titles; 1 losing season
- Kentucky 30 NCAA bids; 83 Tournament wins; 22 Sweet Sixteen’s; 17 Elite Eights; 8 Final Fours; 3 Titles; 1 losing season
- Kansas 34 NCAA bids; 85 Tournament wins; 22 Sweet Sixteen’s; 15 Elite Eights; 9 Final Fours; 2 Titles; 0 losing season
Tier 2:
- Michigan State 29 NCAA bids; 59 Tournament wins; 16 Sweet Sixteen’s; 10 Elite Eights; 8 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 2 losing seasons
- Uconn 20 NCAA bids; 53 Tournament wins; 13 Sweet Sixteen’s; 10 Elite Eights; 5 Final Fours; 4 Titles; 6 losing seasons
- Arizona 32 NCAA bids; 54 Tournament wins; 17 Sweet Sixteen’s; 10 Elite Eights; 4 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 0 losing seasons
- Syracuse 28 NCAA bids; 55 Tournament wins; 15 Sweet Sixteen’s; 7 Elite Eights; 5 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 0 losing seasons
- Florida 22 NCAA bids; 47 Tournament wins; 11 Sweet Sixteen’s; 9 Elite Eights; 5 Final Fours; 2 Titles; 6 losing seasons
- UCLA 26 NCAA bids; 46 Tournament wins; 14 Sweet Sixteen’s; 6 Elite Eights; 4 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 4 losing seasons
- Michigan 21 NCAA bids; 46 Tournament wins; 10 Sweet Sixteen’s; 7 Elite Eights; 5 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 7 losing seasons
- Villanova 23 NCAA bids; 41 Tournament wins; 8 Sweet Sixteen’s; 6 Elite Eights; 4 Final Fours; 3 Titles; 6 losing seasons
- Louisville 24 NCAA bids; 39 Tournament wins; 12 Sweet Sixteen’s; 6 Elite Eights; 2 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 3 losing seasons
- Tier 3:
- Indiana 25 NCAA bids; 35 Tournament wins; 10 Sweet Sixteen’s; 4 Elite Eights; 3 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 4 losing seasons
- Gonzaga 22 NCAA bids; 34 Tournament wins; 10 Sweet Sixteen’s; 4 Elite Eights; 1 Final Fours; 0 Titles; 1 losing seasons
- Maryland 21 NCAA bids; 33 Tournament wins; 9 Sweet Sixteen’s; 2 Elite Eights; 2 Final Fours; 1 Titles; 4 losing seasons
- Virginia 18 NCAA bids; 22 Tournament wins; 5 Sweet Sixteen’s; 4 Elite Eights; 1 Final Fours; 0 Titles; 7 losing seasons
This is exactly what I was looking for. I thinks this makes it clear. If MSU wins a title does this change their standing?
Personally I think they stay in tier2 but on the verge of 1 and with a few more years if they keep it up could be in the 1 tier
Just like Syracuse is 1990 Lax champion even if the NCAA stripped it I would give Louisville their title in 2013.In the Modern Era (since Tournament expanded in 1985) here are my tiers: If you look before 1985 UCLA and Indiana make some moves up the ladder. Cuse!

yep good point. Ville looks a lot better if they have those 6 wins and another titleJust like Syracuse is 1990 Lax champion even if the NCAA stripped it I would give Louisville their title in 2013.
The NCAA is stupid when they vacate wins. Just like JB has 1000+ wins no matter what the NCAA says.
