Exactly. First off the 2 for 1 is real, why don't coaches do it. Two what was the play supposed to be? It was crazy.
I was going to post about this. It made 0 sense. We just had a stoppage for review. Why was a play not drawn up during this stoppage? We were clearly playing zone if they got the ball so why did Jim not draw up a play? Then you use your last timeout after getting across half court immediately. Don’t take advantage of a 2-1. And even worse. After 2 consecutive stoppages WE DONT EVEN COME OUT WITH A SET PLAY and settle for a TERRIBLE shot!!!
The timeout could have been extremely useful when we got the steal and Judah didn’t have a lane. Could have used a timeout with 2 seconds left to draw up a last second attempt.
I don’t disagree with you. But he had that option. There was no reason to take the timeout right after the stoppage for review. Not to mention there was no set play run out of that timeout.JB is a proponent of letting them play in last second scenarios. If Mintz made the correct pass (Girard on the wing) that would have been a better look than any set play you’re going to run with 3 seconds left, inbounding from half court.

He hasn’t been much of a time out taker? For 30 years almost every game down the stretch we have fewer TO than our opponentsYoung team. There’s a real chance he was coaching them on the late game scenarios they might be about to face, rather than drawing up a play.
In general, JB hasn’t been much of a timeout taker in his career. He used them all tonight. I think that’s a function of the team’s youth. Calm them down and get their heads right.

No. That’s true. He saves one. I’ll give him that. But he goes from 4 to 1 in the time it takes freshman Etan to get in foul troubleI’ve been actively watching for at least 20 of those years. That’s not how I remember it. Specifically, he has tended to let teams play through the opponent’s runs (which I like a lot). I don’t recall many games where we needed a timeout late that we didn’t have.
I don’t think that’s a thing. It certainly isn’t on my list of top ten things to be concerned about with JB.He hasn’t been much of a time out taker? For 30 years almost every game down the stretch we have fewer TO than our opponents
All because of one game 27 years ago?Reminding his players how many we have is another story.
