What's on your pandora?

Tons of great music out there, and lots of great bands already mentioned (especially Deerhunter and Kurt Vile). Some that haven't that I dig:

Arcade Fire
Beck
The Men
Neil friggin' Young!
White Stripes/Jack White
Pavement/Stephen Malkmus
Radiohead
Parquet Courts
My Morning Jacket
Wilco
The Velvet Underground
St. Vincent
Tune-Yards

I use Rdio and really like it. Not quite as much content as Spotify, but much, much better interface imo.

I had no idea you were so hip, Tom!

If you have any interest, Young the Giant is going to be at the fair on August 24th. They're at Chevy Court, so it'll be a free concert!

I haven't listened to Pandora in years, but some music that I like:

Camera Obscura
Beirut
Future Islands
Modest Mouse
Animal Collective
Arcade Fire
Chvrches
Haim
Best Coast
Tennis
Beach House
Cults
Empire of the Sun
Architecture in Helsinki
Vance Joy

I've listened to Sonic Youth, Pixies, The Smiths, Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, and a bunch of other bands when I was a little kid. I rarely listen to them anymore though.

For the most part now, all I do is listen to a indie rock playlist. A kid named Josh Blalock from Texas makes it. For anyone interested, here's the link: http://www.birp.fm/

I also listen to the indierockplaylist as well. Here's the link for that: http://theindierockplaylist.com/

These kids do a good job compiling some alright music. A lot of people send in songs that they think would be a good addition too. Also, you can download all of the music for free. There aren't any viruses or anything crazy.

My favorite channel is George Harrison. You get The Beatles as a group, Paul, John, Ringo and George's solo stuff, The Rolling Stones, Clapton, Dylan, Travel Wilburys, Tom Petty...if you like the Beatles and you like the Stones a lot this is a great channel.

George is my favorite Beatle (yeah I know I'm weird) so that's how I started playing it.

Spotify mix...
The Hillbilly Moon Explosion
Iggy Pop
Mad Caddies
Machine Head
Anti-Nowhere League
Sham 69
Pennywise
Johnny Cash
The Queers
Clutch
The Cramps
Middle Class Rut

Just to name a few.

This thread is inspiring me to check out a lot of bands I have never heard of. Mostly listen to a Pandora alt rock station and the XM radio alt rock station (36). Sounds like I need to expand my horizons.

Thanks for the different suggestions on alternative ways to access these bands. Good stuff.

This is unrelated to Pandora, but who else remembers being extremely excited to bust open this CD when it came out 20 years ago?

NPR is a great source for learning about new bands, and they stream a lot of the most anticipated albums for free a week before their release.

So I just deleted my Pandora about 5 minutes ago to try an app called Milk. It is the same but has no ads. So far pretty cool. Negatives about it are you can't see how long the song is. You need a Samsung account if you want explicit lyrics. I like it a lot so far though!!!!

Is that the one with Berman going "he could go all the way"?

I feel like that may be Jock Jams which came out a year or two after, but I could be wrong.

Electric Area is where it's at.

Armin van Buuren & Marcus Schulz are the two best DJ's, by far.

But there is also

Sander van Doorn
Ferry Corsten
Hardwell
Aftrojack
Tiesto
Orjan Nilsen

and many others.

I don't use Pandora or Spotify, but currently in heavy rotation in my house in no particular order:

Dum Dum Girls
Mogwai
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Toy
Warpaint
Psychic Ills
Deerhunter
Warlocks
Wooden Shjips
Dead Meadow
Night Beats
Goat
Califone

aren't there any orange fans who like Queens of the stone age? One of the best live performances I've seen

I have a Pumped up Kicks channel with Foster the People, 311, Weezer, Radiohead and Sublime featured
Then I have a Sufjans Stevens station with some Western States Motel, Death Cab for Cutie and Whitest Boy Alive sprinkled in
For some instrumental music I created an Amir El Saffar channel. He is an Iraqi born, Chicago trained trumpeter, and to say the dude has an incredible jazz range would be a gross understatement.

How's that for eclectic?

bump
