The other thing of note is that the deep corner throw is a presnap read based on the position of the safeties. If the safeties are hedging inside (or if the defense shows one high) and they are less than 15 yards off the ball (preferably at a 10 yd depth) this is when the deep corner is available since the receiver only has one man to beat (the corner). Again, it's usually a relatively quick throw because if the receiver is going to beat his man it happens in the stem of the route. Ball should be in the air.I wouldn't be surprised if he is making the correct read but making the wrong decision. The coverage might say the HR is available IF the time is there. But he needs to have the FB IQ to know that won't happen often so take the 5-6 yard single to the slot. Or he could simply just be waiting too long to see if the HR develops. Sometimes you need to take the gains. We miss those Erv extended running plays.
