Who do you want as the new OC?

David Cutcliffe. OC/QB coach/Associate Head Coach to help Dino with managing the clock.
I think he and and his wife may want to enjoy retirement after departing amicably form Duke in November but here are some people he's coached you may know:

Quarterback coaching

Eight quarterbacks whom Cutcliffe coached in college have gone on to play in the NFL: Heath Shuler, Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Eli Manning, Erik Ainge, Thaddeus Lewis, Sean Renfree, and Daniel Jones.

Cutcliffe also coached former Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton while Helton played quarterback at Tennessee. Eli Manning's former backup, Seth Smith, is a retired professional baseball player.

Who develops good and inventive run games with a great RB and a big mobile QB?

Getting a year of Tucker has got to be a benefit in finding someone
Sounds like the Pistol offense. Chris Ault ran it in Nevada for years and was very successful. Think of Nevada Colin Kaepernick. The QB and 2 RB’s all ran for 1000 a piece.
Not sure who runs it nowadays but we have a lot of the right personnel to run it here.

If im JW i get sign off from Coach White on any new hires.

Good lord, just stop It.

if you are that worked up about it, pull together the buyout money and schedule a meeting
Seriously. I do think that he will be consulted. DC and OC need to be on the same page. I doubt Dino gets to hire any coach without JW signing off.

Dont forget Dino has made some really poor hires. Hes 0 for 2 on OCs
1 for 3 on OL
Same on DC
Hired his daughters Father in Law to coach Tommy at QB
Didnt hire a special teams coach.
What makes you think hes got a green light on anything?

I'm going to kick myself for this, but I just have to clarify.

0 for 2 on OCs. So, you're not giving him credit for his initial OC, who you love, that was promoted to a HC spot?

(And did you ever wonder if Lynch, who seems so happy, maybe asked to downshift to position coach? The last 3 games that year, the offense was on a roll).

1 for 3 on DC. Are you dinging him for losing Arnett so quickly, who he replaced with White, you you love?

I'll give you the -I-L hire, even though selling his soul on that one is a big reason we had a 10 win team. Probably should have cut that cord immediately after 2018.

I think you've gone so all in on anti-Dino, that you'll write just about anything to promote it.

(kicking myself now).

Most coaches dont get multiple swings at OC DC. For Gosh sake he just hired Gilbert guy had a covid year and this year. Pretty poor choice.
He made a great call on White. A horrible call on Martin and Cav and decided to try some weird experiment on Special teams.
Dino hasn't exactly done a very good job in any aspect of running a major football program from recruiting to in game coaching.
He has run a very solid program outside of the stadiums but hes paid to win games or at a minimum field a competitive team.
Other than running a clean program he has failed at every possible area of measurement.
So yes im not a fan of his and dont believe he should be allowed to make hiring decisions without JW signing off.
Because i bleed Orange i hope that he turns it around and has a winning season next year. I simply dont see anything that leads me to believe he will.

I agree with this (even though I like KCSU as a poster)

Also we are giving Dino no credit for hiring Lustig and having 3 TERRIFIC years of special teams but we are dinging him for losing Lustig when it was probably more of an admin issue not ponying up $$$ (it’s the only reason I have confidence he can find another ST specialist)

You should have just posted this, instead of stats, which had me worried you can't count.

Gilbert was a bad choice and wasted time. I wouldn't personally have thought that after this season, but once he fired him, it didn't matter what I thought. We're averaging 2 years per OC. That's only acceptable if they're all getting promoted elsewhere.

Cavanaugh had a lot of experience, but yeah, it didn't work out. I don't think he had much to work with. And I don't think we fired him, I think he left. But it worked out for us. I think we upgraded.

Losing Lustig hurt. My guess is that ST only coaches aren't a dime a dozen, but clearly something we have to fix.

Actually 1 for 3 on OC, the offense was good in 2016 and 2017. We had the worst defense ever in those 2 years. Lewis the first 2 years had a good offense which carried over with Eric as a senior. You had a senior running back, 2 senior receivers, and a decent offensive line.

Very fair. But at the end of the day 1 winning season out of 6 is hard to support. Im not sure how anyone in any profession would be supported.
If Dinos teams were companies they would be bankrupt.
If any of us did as poorly at our jobs as 1 out of 6 years we would be fired.
I simply have a hard time supporting him based on his results.

Here's my flier - Grant Chesnut (Kennesaw State)
Spread option a la Paul Johnson.

A DC wouldn’t even be consulted in the NFL. Nobody is asking White his opinion on the next OC nor should anybody.

Yeaaa look at Georgia tech trying to recover from that.. there’s only a very small percentage of guys that can run it effectively and prolly only Paul Johnson will ever have the type of success at a p5 school.

He also hired Lustig who presided over a top 10 ST unit for a couple of years

Then decided he didn't need a ST dedicated coach who also helped our superb secondary on the side

I completely disagree. I think that OCs are always consulted with prior to their counterpart being offered. Any leader coach or business doesnt bring in top management without discussing things with his senior team. White is critical to SU and Dino turning this nightmare around and im sure he isnt going to wake up one day and find out who our new OC is. It doesnt work that day with a coach who isnt on the hot seat and it certainly wont work that way with this hire.

He replaced Dino when Dino was fired as OC at A&M. Can't see that happening. What about Mike Sanford, who was just let go at Minnesota? Former OC at ND, Boise and HC at WKU-Experience coaching QB's. Believe SU looked at him for HC many years ago.

Ah, Minnesota. Our wannabe doppelganger.
