We've had 2 winning coaches in the past 2 decades, neither of them ran a unique O system. Not sure the board infatuation with it. I mean I get the supposed rationale, that we need something like that to compete because we can't compete under normal circumstances, it's been repeated so many times that yes I get what you guys THINK is the case however I'd like to point out a few facts:

2 Winning coaches so far since Mac left(book is still out on Dino's O at this level, we scored below the D1 average 2 years in a row in this offense):
Coach P: Offense - Multiple
Coach M: Offense - ProStyle Multiple

Bringing a so called unique system means you are going to end up dealing with 2 things. The first is the excuse that the coach needs years to bring in his own guys as we saw with Gerg and so far now Babers. So if it fails not only did the program have to turn the roster in order to meet the system, when another coach comes on board, it can take time to undo that roster as well. Think Marrone Roster Massacre of 2009. Babers recruited to his system at BG. They are a disaster 2 years after he left because his recruits are running somebody else's system. 4-8 last year and 2-10 this year. When a unique system fails it can really set a program back.

Don't need NE roots? I have a problem with this as well. Coaches that don't recruit to a niche system, have to rely on their network of people. Gerg tried the whole don't need NE recruits and it failed miserably.

Agree with the other points.

Do we have another alum as an offensive coordinator in college or pro football?
I know Dave Werner at Michigan State.
Any other Orange alum coaches?
Dave's name is actually Dave Warner.
John Reagan is the OC at Penn.

Those are the only ones that immediately come to mind as alums who are also OCs.

We would need someone with an offensive system. Deleone had a system. Grobs string of OCs never established a system. Marrone and Hackett had a system (and changed the system when they figured out the talent they had did not fit), shafer had the zone read but I would argue no stability in a system. Dino has a system. Stick w the system
