Whos our next head coach

We need a northeast guy…. O god no I don’t wanna be seriously b talking about this stuff. I’m so tired of the exciting drama for our program to be about the possible next head coach vs what bowl we’ll get picked for

Amen to this. So sick of it

Yep. And don’t worry. With a new HC, our recruiting class will blow up setting us back a year and we probably lose a bunch of current players to the portal. New systems, new players - we just won’t know until year 3.

There’s a chance Dino and the current crop of players make something happen this year and we get some confidence back in the direction of the program. That’s my preference.

I hope for the latter too. if you're a fan of the team that's best case scenario. However, w passage of time, we must prepare for a coaching change if Dino is incapable of modifying things in season during ACC play. Need to get a win tomorrow and go from there.

I don't worry about recruiting anymore and that shouldn't be a factor. We are mediocre at it, the next guy will be too, the guy after him will be as well. Key is finding a coach to coach it up.

We're in agreement. I brought up recruiting only in the context that it tends to go backwards when a coach is fired for at lease one cycle. Maybe the transfer portal can help with that?

We'll see.

yeah for sure. the attrition stings for sure. i was just illustrating that once any new operation gets going they'll probably do somewhat similar things w the constraints in CNY/Syracuse for recruiting. The wildcard is if Syracuse decided to do something very Un-Syracuse and hire a former HC with ALOT of warts who would potentially recruit higher impact but drag the school into some muddy situations. Art Briles, Hugh Freeze, etc come to mind

My top 2 are Joe M and Curt Cignetti from James Madison. We need guys with an East Coast background who understand the recruiting territory and have long term connections.

Please I really want dino to right the ship , I’m so sick of resetting. We have the talent to be a decent team. It’s infuriating because I think shafer coulda been successful here also (before the mental breakdown) if he hired Lester as is oc from the get go. Crazy that one coach has screwed both of them.

I think that is ALL of our preference. For me I just don't see Dino rising to the challenge. He has already shown me that he can't manage the game in front of him. His version of great QB play (as he noted about TD in Ohio game) and reality are puzzling. I don't think the issue is with the current players, it is with the current coaches and their failure to the players. Running the same 12 plays in different formations with the same players on the field is NOT working. It hasn't worked in three years.

Got back from Rutgers weekend. Wife says "I guess you'll be getting a new coach again?" Me: "Probably. I want Moorhead". Her: "All you had to do was ask"

(she never said that).
She didn't say isn't it big enough already?

Did a quick little google search on Moorhead:

According to ESPN, Mississippi State officials intended to fire Moorhead if he didn't defeat Ole Miss in the 2019 Egg Bowl.[11] However, the Bulldogs won that game 21-20 to become bowl-eligible, making Moorhead only the third Bulldog coach to win his first two Egg Bowls. At an emotional press conference the following day, Moorhead tried to knock down the rumors about his job security, saying, "This is my school, this is my team, this is my program," and that anyone who thought otherwise could "pound sand and kick rocks." He added, "You'll have to drag my Yankee ass out of here."[12][13]

However, on January 3, 2020, Moorhead was fired after finishing 6–7 following a 38–28 loss to Louisville in the Music City Bowl. Besides the Bulldogs' lackluster performance in that game, athletic director John Cohen and other school officials were angered when they learned quarterback Garrett Shrader had suffered an eye injury during a fight in practice. Shrader had missed the game with what Moorhead initially described as an "upper body injury."[14][9]

I thought Pitt would drop Narduzzi allowing Moorhead to return home. I think he might have bought himself another year with this start.

Which is why we should jump on Moorhead while we can.
If we don’t get to a bowl.
Tbh I've seen enough in-game mismanagement this year, and coupled with the excuse making and bizarre answers, I think even with a bowl we should move on from Dino. This team could easily be 5-1 or 6-0 with a better coach.

Losing to WMU is the most Pitt thing ever.
