That worked out well lol.Marrone had zero head coaching experience too.
I’m just being realistic. This job isn’t that desirable. How many Cuse HC’s went on to become HC after leaving? It’s not even a stepping stone type gig. Everyone told Dino not to take this job except Briles.God, I hope nobody on here is all in on Addazio

Addazio would probably be a lifer at 6-6. I’d take that over 6 winning seasons in the last 20 years
How quickly people forget what happened last time we hired our DC...
I do think we should try to keep White on as DC but hard pass on HC

Oh yeah I forgot about Coach P going to UConn but that was like a decade later. Not the typical stepping stone haha.3 of the 5 coaches did. Mac, Pasqualoni and Marrone. Gump and Schrader went back to being Dcoordinators
Dino definitely couldve after his big season. Instead he took the raise gambled on himself and seemingly lost that bet.
I hear you. I’m down for 6 wins and exciting football. Even Dino’s first couple of losing seasons were still fun to watch. I’d take that at this pointI get where you’re coming from and I don’t expect even 8-10 win seasons, consistently. But I think there’s plenty of young guys we can hire from lower divisions that can at least do 6 wins and not bore the fans to death. We’ll be a stepping stone for them but we thought that with DB too. I’m okay with that if it means exciting FB
No chance, he'd have to get a G5 job or kill it as an OC for another P5 gig. With his age he'd probably have to go the G5 route. Idk what OC jobs he could even get, he was fired midseason from TAMU for doing a poor job and never got another shot as an OC. Db probably wished he left after 2018 but unlucky for both of us not many jobs opened up that offseason that would've been a good fit for the school or him.Oh yeah I forgot about Coach P going to UConn but that was like a decade later. I wonder if Dino wishes he didn’t take this job? I got paid so probably not but will he get another P5 gig?
Just throwing out retread names here ... Butch Davis?I can't think of someone who even fits that. Maybe Herman does but he isn't coming here.
Hey your opinion is valid. Marrone bailed but he did a good job while he was hereThat worked out well lol.
I get it you think White is a good target for HC and that’s fine. Just expressing my opinion we need someone with experience and not take chance on someone at this point.
I like Joe and feel like if given a chance could do well, Mississippi State is a tough spot to coach.Joe Morehead might keep a guy like Tony White around. He kept one or two Mississippi State holdovers from Mullen and in fact looking up and down his staff he put together a pretty nice staff. Lukabu is now the BC defensive coordinator and the quarterback coach I think is now the OC for FIU or somebody. Plus he had Terry Richardson, Terrell Buckley and Michael Johnson.
I’d be amped for this. Perfect.I like Joe and feel like if given a chance could do well, Mississippi State is a tough spot to coach.
I would be happy with Moorehead HC and White DC.
This a geography question? How can you aim higher than Syra….. never mind
Why not both. Dazzler can be OL / Run gameNo. No. No. we’re not taking about Addazio. If we are getting addazio, then we can get Dantonio, and that would be a BILLION times better.
He’d own the fertile Scranton recruiting area.Joe Biden.
He's gotten most of our best players, including from NY like Trill. The guys who had offers from other P 5 schools. Most staffs have more than 1 or 2 good recruiters. We have basically Monroe and Ferri has done a solid job (Wax, Tucker, Jonathan, Okechukwu, Hendrix if he didn't get hurt). I also believe our recruiting has gotten better since White has come aboard. No one is coming in here and bringing in top 20 classes, with the possible exception if we start winning lots of games prior to that.I keep seeing this repeatedly. How is Monroe a “good” recruiter? We keep ranking last or next to last, year after year, in the ACC
Great combo.I like Joe and feel like if given a chance could do well, Mississippi State is a tough spot to coach.
I would be happy with Moorehead HC and White DC.
We need a northeast guy…. O god no I don’t wanna seriously b talking about this stuff. I’m so tired of the exciting drama for our program to be about the possible next head coach vs what bowl we’ll get picked forI have a sense he is getting a bigger job but Tom Herman was the hot name not so long ago. He is living off the Longhorn golden parachute this year.
Yea and this is part of the problem….I could be way off, but I think there is more complexity in DB's system. My limited understanding is the X,Y, Z receivers sometimes have as many as 3 way break options (depending on the alignment and read of the defender pre snap, whether they are outside vs inside receiver, stacked, and vs zone, man, cloud coverages) and 2-3 way options routes depending on how the defenders react post snap and/or who was identified as the leveraged WR on pre-snap reads. The explosive play opportunities often come from the option routes if everyone is on the same page. The option routes are what DB is reluctant to simplify, but it sounds like this is the consideration.
